Re: 2010 European Tour Dates Announced!!!

I tried to get tickets this morning but failed - having to do it slyly at work didn't help.

Anyway, does anyone know what time tickets go on sale tomorrow (Friday) on Ticketmaster?

Re: 2010 European Tour Dates Announced!!!

I was going to go to Brum (Birmingham) as it's the closest to me, but as the venue's huge, I'm now leaning towards the London gigs. But there'll be far more people trying to get tickets for the Apollo. Oh, poop! Guess who's not going to get much sleep tonight. Is anyone thinking of having a get-toge...

Re: 10 MAY BIRMINGHAM (European Tour 2010)

That'll be me, then. Easiest to get to by train from Cardiff.

I'll be in work early tomorrow to go online and get my ticket.

Anyone else going to this one?

Serious article on musical comedy

The Guardian newspaper in the UK, a long-time supporter of the Conchords, had quite an in-depth article by Brian Logan on musical comedy - i.e. comedy with a musical element, not stage shows or films. It's at http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2009/oct/29/musical-comedy-bill-bailey-conchords "I sa...

Re: Learning Languages

I did Spanish O level at evening class some... no, many... years ago, but can't remember much now. Use it or lose it, that's the rule with languages. I used to speak French fairly fluently, after a year of living in the Languedoc and another of sharing a flat with a French assistante from Provence. ...

OK, will do. No, honestly. Just wait for the photos if you don't believe me.

Admittedly, it could be a bit of a long wait.

Re: Flight of the Conchords for new album and UK live gigs

A bike helmet? A cardboard box? Bike helmet is a good idea. Though then I'd have to buy a new one for actually cycling to work, and put the signed one in the glass cabinet with my trophy from a radio quiz show, my glass tankard from the Brains 100 pub round and my husband's 'Most improved player of...

Re: Flight of the Conchords for new album and UK live gigs

I don't have a uke or a recorder, or even a piano, I could bring and ask the boys to sign. Indeed, I have no musical instruments - or talent - whatsoever. What should I bring?

Obviously I don't have to say anything about keeping it clean...

I was thinking of wearing one of my What The Folk T-shirts. :D With a laminated badge, of course.

Re: Flight of the Conchords for new album and UK live gigs

Bill Bailey has a strong musical element to his act, and he played the Cardiff International Arena (capacity 5000) on his 2007 tour. As to popularity, that's a difficult one to judge. All the comedians I've named usually have shows or appear on programmes (three or four comedians live on stage such ...

Re: Flight of the Conchords for new album and UK live gigs

Do you really think the guys will play 500 seat venues? That would be unbelievable, but if they were going for that huge stadium in January, I wonder if they're thinking a bit larger, like the larger venues they played in the US this year. I've looked at where comedians do gigs in Cardiff - because...

I've just changed the location on my profile. CB will understand, I'm sure.

Re: Flight of the Conchords for new album and UK live gigs

Cardiff would be great for me, too. I could just get the big red bendy-bus into town. If they do come to Cardiff, as a long-time resident, I'm more than happy to research and suggest accommodation, bars, eateries etc. for anyone who's not already familiar with the city. Also, work etc. permitting I ...

Re: Things you should not do or say (in front of FOTC)

Also, do not show the guys your mad Photoshopping skills by whipping out photos of you with your prom date, spouse, or first born with Bret and Jemaine's heads attached to their bodies. Or photos from Playgirl with their heads attached. Er, like the one in Mel's bathroom. I wonder whether that's ac...
