Funny you should say that... his (real) hair was indeed slicked back in a pony tail under the wig.

Re: Jemaine and Taika's Vampire Movie

Thanks. Both daughters this time... I saw the original short film and have been hoping for years that Taika and Jemaine would expand on the vampire theme. There's very little public info this time, not even in the trade press. I'd classify it as almost a hobby project, kicking back and having fun ma...

Re: Jemaine and Taika's Vampire Movie

Wow, I haven't posted since 2008.
It was very cold in Cuba Mall last night.
I was chaperoning. Nudge nudge, wink wink.
What did they do in the shadows? You'll see soon enough. :)

You know you've made it when you get mashed

A mashup of a Trent Reznor song and "Business Time":

Replying to several posts... As well as the previously mentioned locations, most of the outdoor shots were in Titahi Bay. The hill / cliff is in the reserve near the radio transmitter mast. The island visible in some shots is Mana Island. The playground with the squirrel cage (installed for the film...

My NZ-born husband has been getting a lot of "You look so much like that guy from that one show" lately, too. One stranger even exclaimed, "Oohh, you even *talk* like him!" Taika said last night that Jemaine's having to come to terms with being known - people looking at him in t...

For me at least, some of the humour in the movie is the kind where you laugh nervously rather than heartily. That's not a bad thing, though. As usual, Taika says it better than I could: http://filmmakermagazine.com/directorinterviews/2007/06/taika-waititi-eagle-vs-shark.php Taika says:: "... I...

I can definitely understand the Napoleon Dynamite comparisons. But I wasn't really crazy about ND - I didn't get all the hype. I tried to find "Jarrod" endearing but frankly I found the character to be annoying. I've not seen ND, and won't be going out of my way to. As for "Jarrod&qu...

Number 30 with a bullet

http://www.stuff.co.nz/4099790a1860.html "Wellington feature comedy Eagle vs Shark opened at only three cinemas in the United States, but it has already made its mark at the box office. The film, by Taika Waititi, entered the US box office at No. 30. It was one of only four new films to open on...

Posters

The FOTC HBO series launch was a headline item on TV1 here last night. Jemaine was interviewed in front of an EvS poster.
Has anyone else noticed that the US posters for EvS and the FOTC HBO series share a very similar style - colours, typeface etc?

I like this review...

From http://www.nwasianweekly.com/200726022/festival20072622.htm Seattle International Film Festival: Lily (Loren Horsley), a fast-food worker and champion video-game player, sums up her visit with her boyfriend’s family by saying, “It’s been pretty weird.” Her statement comes as no surprise...

Colour me red. I was up past my bedtime too. You may well be right, but it doesn't quite look right for Taika either? If it is him, the photo must have been taken immediately after arriving at Sundance. There was another director there who looks quite a lot like him...Oh well, never mind. Aha, myst...
