Re: Unpopular opinions?

See, I was with a bunch of people who didn't know the song and didn't know that it was supposed to be "censored", and they thought all the missing consonants were due to the generally poor sound quality in the theater. "Too many motherf*ckers f*cking with your sh*t" is a lot less...

Re: Unpopular opinions?

There is a place in my heart for both versions of Sugalumps. The live version was really perfect for the moment -- by slowing it down, you could hear the lyrics clearly, and they seemed to thoroughly enjoying teasing the audience during it. The slowed-down live Mutha Ucka's was less successful IMO.

Re: April 18th - Tower Theater (2 shows!)

My god, what a perfect, amazing experience! We went to the 10pm show. The night was absolutely beautiful, 70 degrees and clear, and you could feel there was an excellent energy among the people milling outside the theater . The adjacent street had been closed and a huge eclectic crowd of happy peopl...

Re: 2009 tour - Ticket swap/sale

I have four hard tickets (all next to each other) in Left Center Orchestra row U for the 7pm show in Philly, plus the name of a nearby dive bar where you can enjoy cheesesteaks and beer while you wait for the meet & greet after the late show. $51 each + your choice of shipping costs.

Re: HBO Flight of the Conchords Show - Season Two - Ep 8

Also Jemaine is reading a book called Folk Tales in bed when Bret throws the empty jar at him. Could it be a subtle shout-out to this What The Folk website? :yawinkle: I thought that was possibly a reference to Tales of the Maori , a show he did with Taika back in the day. I can't see well enough, ...

Re: Duncan Sarkies!

Wahoo! Thank you! I worship Duncan Sarkies. I think he's not only written the best episodes of the show, but has done so by a huge margin. Can't wait to listen to the interview!

Re: Interested to hear what you think please

I'd say the show still feels small. Even the lavish Gondry videos look reassuringly budget. The single video I found very out of character was in Episode 1. Their world should not include helicopter shots. I agree with the poster above who said that the show has been pretty obviously tilted to appea...

Re: HBO Flight of the Conchords Show - Season Two - Ep 6

Uh, who's up in arms about it? I'm not losing sleep here, but I do find those sorts of details interesting to think about. One of the aspects I love most about the show is the lavished attention on tiny, barely-noticeable things. So yes, if I'm watching a show containing jokes so infinitesimal I nee...

Re: HBO Flight of the Conchords Show - Season Two - Ep 6

You can't compare small production gaffes like flickering posters with huge events like having all the stuff is stolen out of the apartment in one ep, and miraculously restored in the next. To be honest, if they had come back to season 2 and never addressed Murray's Crazy Doggz days, I would have be...

Re: HBO Flight of the Conchords Show - Season Two - Ep 6

Regarding the furniture continuity problem, I wonder if after they had all the eps finished they decided this episode was weak and placed it where it would do the least damage to the momentum of the series -- right after one of the best eps, and opposite the Oscars? I can't believe that people who a...

I think in the end they only ended up skipping the two San Francisco shows, yes? Bret came out alone after the first (5/30) Los Angeles show (with chocolates to share!), and they both seemed very happy to sign and pose after the final show of the tour on 6/1. I am relieved that they weren't put off ...

The end of the Meet and Greet?

I've been carefully reading the post-show reports from each stop on this tour, and the guys have gone from running out of the venue to greet fans who weren't expecting it (Upper Darby) to graciously meeting fans who wait by the stage door (NYC and the midwest), to ditching the meet and greet all tog...

As Clement explained during an interview for HBO, the two met under fortuitous circumstances: “Bret had a guitar but didn’t know how to play guitar. And I knew how to play guitar, but I didn’t have a guitar. So . . . Bret came over to my place with his guitar and I told him how to play it.”...
