I only saw the opening of SNL (when I said "Wow- he's shorter than I thought he was...") and then the last few seconds of him singing....we're bad channel-flippers and were watching something else. Oh, and we caught part of the news, meh.
I probably should go to Hulu and check it out....is SNL on Hulu? I know NBC is rabid over it not being on YT.

Oooh, Cee-Lo is also part of the Dungeon Family, an all-star group with members of Outkast. Their album cover is amazing. And the record is quite good, too.

And here's Cee-Lo's cah-ray-zay and wonderful "Closet Freak." Ten years old and it's still amazing. I thought this song and vid would have made him a household name.

Can you tell I'd never heard either version until recently? I saw stuff for his song F@#k You and had no idea Forget You was just the "clean" version, lol!

I'm listening to it right now. It's amazing. I'm not even done listening to it the first time and I'm already looking forward to listening to it again.

I put off listening to it for a bit when it came out because I was torn - I'm such a fan of Eddie's voice and melodies but not of the uke ( :doomed:). I listened and the songs and his voice are insanely gorgeous, a few songs work well on uke but the sound gets old fast for me. I sooooooo wish this had been an acoustic guitar album coz I'd have it on replay constantly but I'll give it another chance.

*gasp* :o ;)

He plays it like a guitar. Only Eddie Vedder could pour so much angst into songs played on a ukulele, lol.

I'm not sure exactly what that means but I think I hear it. It doesn't sound traditionally uke-y in parts.

The 2 things are diametrically opposed hence my slight reluctance to completely embrace it. You can't glean a soulful, ballsy sound from a uke therefore IMHO Eddie is sold a bit short in this set up. Imagine some of these songs on piano and/or acoustic guitar? Guh.....

I respectfully disagree. Ballsy soulful uke is different than on a guitar, it is true. Ukes aren't as dramatic, because they don't have the same bass notes, but they can still sound soulful. Ukes are better at 7ths than guitar, which is a pretty soulful note. Anyway I like that EV used a uke for these songs. I think if he had done them on guitar they would have sounded a bit overblown. The uke makes them sound more understated and personal. :dunno: JMHO. ;)

Another friend said they heard it today too. 8) Isn't it odd they chose such a traditional song for the single? If someone bought the CD based on that song they would be in for a surprise, lol.

It's funny, I love Cat Power and the song but I think it's far from the best song on the LP so yes I find it an odd choice for a single.

The Dead C - Harsh 70s Reality. I didn't get them before, but I get them now. Noise geniuses from New Zealand. The anti-Flying Nun. What I hoped Sonic Youth would become, but they blinked and flinched.

Also, RuPaul's album Glamazon.

Yeah, I really had hopes for Sonic Youth...

RuPaul :yay: :lalala:
My faves on Glamazon is "I believe" and of course "Superstar". Everytime I hear "Superstar", I have visions of "Lip Sync for your Life...and Don't F*** it Up." :D
