Wellington, New Zealand

I found this video today, it's great! It's Wellington in a nutshell; it talks about its history, people, attractions, etc. I found it very informative and entertaining, and of course our boys get a mention. It makes me want to visit Wellington asap.

Hahaha, that was funny!

Wellington is on my list! I've already been looking into study abroad programs in Wellington. This might be of interest to all of the college students out there: http://www.studyabroadnz.com/exchange.html

University of California is on there which is good news for me!

Boo! My future college is not on that list! Well, I guess I'll just go there on a vacation like a normal American. It would have been amazing to study there, though.

Darn it, my future university is not on that list either! :( Oh well, looks like it'll just be a vacation someday for me as well.

I would love to go over to NZ to study abroad, but I don't know if they offer my program over there, AND, what would I do with my son for that time? Anyone want to be a long term babysitter 8)

Funny clip Raven! I enjoyed watching that.

Vmh, love your avatar picture! Just noticed that.

You guys should definitely study abroad if you have the opportunity. That was my favorite part of college! By the way, just because your college's name is not on there that doesn't mean that you can't possibly apply to the school as a foreign student for a year, and pay the tuition directly to the New Zealand college. Depending on your home university, and how flexible they are, you can probably still transfer those credits back. An exchange, like the one mentioned, is a little different because the U.S. student for example, still pays the U.S. college fee, which allows a New Zealand student to go to the college for the same period of time, without having to pay the U.S. fee (they still pay the less expensive New Zealand fee). So, as I understand it, it's a direct exchange. However, if you apply as a foreign student, then you pay the New Zealand college directly, and an added bonus, is often even as a foreign student the tuition is most likely less than the tuition in the United States. So, check with your International Programs Advisor at your college, and see if studying in Wellington as a foreign student is a possibility.

Thanks for that advice, Corrine! I actually just started looking into my college's study aboad program a bit, and was pleased to read about a few students who actually made it to New Zealand for a semester. :D Geez, would that be a dream come true or what?

One of my friends from high school is currently studying in New Zealand. I think he's up in Auckland though. I'm not quite sure. Anyway, I'm so completely jealous. I also corrected him a bit on his pictures on facebook. He said they were stopping for a break to eat cookies, to which I said, "I think you mean biscuits"

Why don't you just bring him? He'll be in a nice nursery becoming kiwi:)

I brought my kids when I studied in England, and my son went to the uni nursery. When he finally mastered the language he used to say: I am an English boy now, mummy.

Ooh! I haven't thought of that!

They don't offer Medical Technology at Victoria though :( Maybe I could take some of their Biological Science classes and hope they transfer? :dunno:
