My friend that I made reference to earlier in this thread, the one that could not say "fart" and would instead say "toot?" She would giggle every time she saw a sign at a store or restaurant that said "parking in rear" because she said it struck her as being dirty. She could be an odd bird

What about toilet? Or my favourite, turlet (don't they say that back East?)
East...in the United States. I've heard it in New England/the Tri-State Area (NY, NJ, Delaware, sometimes PA sneaks in).

The tri state area is NY,NJ & CT. I was born & raised there. I've never heard the word turlet in my life though it sounds like somethine either a Bostonian or southerner would say.

And it's toilet paper...not bath tissue!

Yes.

My theory is that the company got a little overconfident with the success of the funny yet awkward "don't squeeze the Charmin" campaign back in the 80's and figured they could risk having anthropomorphic [cartoon] bears play out random scenes in the woods all centered around toilet paper and involving everything from ice cream to "dangleberries" of toilet paper (I just cannot call it tissue). Freaks me out, man.

I remember being asked about Charmin by a market research company - I said even then (6 years) sgo that it was creepy.
The whole bear thing, and 'bath tissue' -wrong!

I still think the worst Charmin commercial in conceptual terms was the one for their "FreshWipes". They demonstrated how much easier it was to wipe off toothpaste with a moist wipe. I just don't think toothpaste is at all a stand-in for excrement in a toilet paper commercial--or otherwise.

Then again, I also think the new Always maxi-pad commercials ("Try it...and believe.") sound less like they're advertising a product and more like they're recruiting for some kind of cult.
If you don't know the answer, change the question.

Always/Tampax ads always weird - who wants to abseil/windsurf at that time?

Surely they would do better showing more likely activities - lying on the sofa, eating chocolate and drinking wine :D

I'd love to see some realistic ads

And if they really want to corner the market on pads the boxes should come with three free chocolates of your choice:)

And a bottle of wine...seriously, what is going on with all the sport?

Maybe too much realism would be bad though - people shouting, crying and then goign back to bed. Funny though :D
