Great places for vacations... maybe ?!?

Postby DangerMouse » Thu Jul 16, 2009 7:39 am

I can not sleep :( and all my peeps are a few time zones away so y'all suffer :P

Yet another rescue took place a couple of days, tis the season. This got me and my friends pondering why would you go to a place named "Mt. Terror" ? I can hear the conversation by the coffee maker now ... What do you want to do this weekend ?.. I was thinking Mt. Terror; we could bring the kids.

Where I am there are some real good names for places, my personal favorite is Cape Disappointment State Park  I really like it since the name really does not get your hopes up. If you go, you have no choice but to get a t-shirt. BTW, we got the sweatshirt since it is usually very chilly up here in these parts.

Anything fun by y'all ?

Well...I do live about 30 kilometres from Hell :snakeman:

I kid you not. It takes me 50 minutes to go to Hell and back

You can picture that conversation too, can't you?

-I really fancy getting away for the weekend, but I've no idea where I'd go.
-Why don't you just go to Hell?

:rolls:

(This obviously only works in English, but everyone knows the language here so it's still funny.)

I got nothing in terms of town names but I have a client who lives on Bloody Ankle Lane. Another less terrifying and tastier one is English Muffin Way.

I know there are a bunch of odd-named places in Newfoundland but couldn't think of any at the moment so I googled 'funny place names' and came up with this:
http://www.squidoo.com/funnyplacenames#module2061376

Here are some particular good ones worth a giggle:
Buttzville, Pennsylvania
Twatt, Scotland
Muff, Ireland
Titty Hill, England
Wetwang, England
Bald Knob, Arkansas,
Whiskey Dick Mountain, Washington
Toad Suck, Arkansas
Dissapointment, Kentucky
blooming, Austria
and
Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateapokaiwhenuakitanatahu, New Zealand

And for the record, my sister lives on Neptune!

Will have to get back to you on those Newfie places 'cause they really are funny.
