as i mentioned in the holiday thread, i spent last night in a pub with oly ralfe (he made the boosh doc which we watched, & hes been in boosh a couple of times) rich fulcher & noel fielding :) it was so lovely, oly had invited us after the film & we all chatted for ages, & noel bought us drinks & rich gave us crisps from his packet haha!
such a good birthday pressy xD
& tomorrow i shall hopefully be going to see rich again cos hes doing this flashmob thing where we stick 2 fingers up at bigben to promote his new book.
i keep watching this vid about it, its so funny.

hahahah yeah he was. & unbelieveably rich wasnt too mad, although he did say he was going to a interview at midnight about sport & carol told him to just say 'tennis' so the conversation just turned to him saying random sports...

I have a confession. A friend gave us the first season for Christmas; we have watched a couple of episodes and...um, I don't think I am smart enough to appreciate British humor. My husband is chuckling and laughing out loud and I am just the slow kid not quite getting it; it's just like when he puts on Monty Python stuff!

However, I promise to keep at it!

It took a couple of episodes to win me over as well, Jill, so keep at it (if you don't truly hate it). I have to admit I was a bit puzzled when I first watched it, but once I sort of got in the mindset I began to really enjoy it. I abolutely love it now! :D

My husband hates it though  I thought I could get him into it, but no such luck. He laughed once and spent the rest of the time looking like this ----->

some people hate it, some people love it. i think its cos they have this world in the show, & if people dont get that its very confusing to have a talking gorilla & stuff hahah!

I got the Season 1-3 Special Edition Boxset for Christmas! I've always been meaning to watch the show in its entirety since I've seen a few clips and Noel Fielding is great. I've watched a few episodes so far and it's been enjoyable to watch!

mohumbhai mania wrote:...I usually find their stuff more whimsical than outright funny. But darn it, they are so likeable, and their imaginations are so fertile.

That's exactly what I think about the show so far. It certainly is unique with many weirdly entertaining concepts. I don't necessarily consider it as massively 'laugh out loud funny' kind of stuff but I've certainly been entertained so far and I can't wait to watch more episodes!

Ditto the above post

In addition I have to say I really appreciate the universe Fielding and Barratt create together a lot more than the individual stand-up routines I have seen on YT.

I don't dislike Noel's stand-up, though it is rather 'different' from everything else I've seen. Most comedians will talk about things everyone can recognise from their own lives, while Noel just tells fairly odd, yet highly entertaining stories with no basis in anything remotely normal. :D

From what I've seen of Julian I suspect I would have to be severely drunk to laugh out loud at it. :worry:

I haven't seen many routines, just a few old ones, so I may be wrong...

Together they are bloody brilliant though :D

I haven't seen either of their stand up shows yet, I'll look into it. I'm only a fan of Noel from what I've seen of him on other TV shows (mostly panel shows) and he comes across as a really likeable, quirky guy. I was just watching Big Fat Quiz of the Year '06 yesterday and him and Russell Brand were great as the 'goth detectives'.
