Since most of us in the Northern Hemisphere are encased in snow at the moment... I offer this:
The most amazing thing about snow is it's affect on sound. You can live on the busiest street in the busiest city, and when it snows, suddenly everthing is encased in silence. The only sound you hear, as Andria so estutely said, all you can hear is the crunch, crunch of your own footsteps. Snow has the capacity to make anything seem intimate. Lovely.
