This my bit in spreading the folk - it does get negelected. Here are a couple of folkish bands that I'm into at the moment:

JOSH PYKE
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=3290569
-top bloke great lyrics

ANGUS AND JULIA STONE
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=63552906
-Bro & SIster. Really sweet & delicate tunes. I love their song Mango Tree

OKKERVIL RIVER

-Guys from Texas. Some songs are dark & intense but upbeat others are romantic and medieval sounding

They're not really folky ; they are more in the melodic singer/songwriter vein of things.

Tim Keegan - on his myspace page, his sound is described as " Emotronic / French pop / Healing & EasyListening"

Salim Nourallah - a Dallas TX based songwriter who I met a few years ago at a Neil Finn gig

Joe Reyes - he's a San Antonio TX based songwriter who I met through one of the band he plays in ; we're both geeky Finn and Crowded House fans :-)

This is a friend of mine who currently portrays Paul McCartney in a Beatle tribute band. This is his original stuff here. Very good power pop.

Yeh thats why I wrote folkish. I think they've got a bit of folk influence to them. Nothing is 100% folk these days everything a bit of this and a bit of that.

For any Finn fans, here’s a link to a performance that Tim Finn gave at the World Café Live in Philadelphia last month. Just click on the red ‘listen’ button at the top of the page. There’s also a link to a story about Maori music at the bottom of the page. Enjoy! :D

I'd like to introduce to one of my faves from this year's SXSW festival, Scissors For Lefty.

It's dancey-pop meeting indie-rock ; you'll be dancing around your room or car in no time

You can listen to their full length record, Underhanded Romance, here :

Or you can check out some shorter song clips here : http://www.myspace.com/scissorsforlefty

Enjoy :D
