I've watched this guy for years, think he is very funny, but I just saw this-
"Attended Yale University and NYU School of Law on a full scholarship."

(borrowing heavily from Amy Poeler) REALLY??!! Yale University?!?! REALLY??!!

Have you seen his "If" special? Its in bits on You Tube and really shows the mind behind the comedian. Also it allows you to believe Yale and law school. Check it out!

In a "Comedy Central Presents" show I just saw, he brings out his Mom and Grandmother. He apologizes for leaving law school but this is what he's going to do. Then ask for 20.00 to get home. During this same bit, he had a guy come out dressed as a fairy, then I realized it was Eugene Mirman!! Poor guy, he always get's typecast in those roles!! :angelic:

I'm watching Dane Cook ( :| , he's kind of meh) on Comedy Central and there was just a promo for a new series with Demetri called "Important Things". I just saw the "Person." DVD so I'm curious to see this now.

I recorded Eugene Mirman's how on Comedy Central tonight and Cook was on prior. As usual, Comedy Central was a minute off, so when I went to watch Eugene-
there was a shirtless Dane Cook  :que: :bolt:
I think may stay up all night to avoid the nightmares!!! :teeth:

Yeah, I found Dane a tiny bit funny, but mostly obnoxious and annoying.

I have been LOVING Important Things, and so has my husband! (I tend to be more of an absurdist, he's more linear gag-oriented).

It's really opening my mind up about comedy these days - you don't have to be just a sketch writer, a cartoonist, a song parodist if you're talented enough. You just tailor the medium to the joke instead of the other way around.

Excellent, excellent show.

We love Important Things, too! I loved the one where he was the time traveling gigolo, and he was looking up famous historical women on Google.

I haven't see that one, but the one where the HS senior is at the TGIFriday's with Ben Franklin, Galileo and William Shakespeare totally killed us.

Oh yeah! And they were total horndogs, trying to pick up the waitress.

All I could think of when I saw that, though, was that episode of the Office where the Ben Franklin impersonator is trying to hit on Pam. "You have syphilis, right?" ha ha

I couldn't stop giggling over the "Early Raver" bit in the first episode.

The shows is brilliant. Last weeks episode was great, about chairs. My favorite skit is the one with him and David Cross in the bathroom, bad mouthing everyone in the office. DM almost looks his age when he is dressed in "office wear" and his hair is slicked back.

His Twitters are great too. Makes you realize most of his jokes are under 146 characters!

I haven't watched the ep this week yet but I think my fave thing so far was the song he did 2 weeks ago Me Vs. You (or something like that). His comedy doesn't always work for me (a bit too Pythonish - yes I know I'm the only person on the planet who doesn't get or like Python) but it does make me think which is good.

I was raised on MP. Literally. My mom was a huge fan. If anyone is interested in re-enacting all of The Holy Grail in message board form (again), I'm your girl. :)

DM did a series of math jokes last week that my hubby LOVED, math geek that he is. As for me, I have to admire anyone who can actually make math funny.

I admire Demetri's mind. Period. He makes the strangest things comedic.

My friends used to say that the way to torture me would be to strap me to a chair, eyelids pinned open (clockwork orange) and make me watch Monty Python stuff all day. Indeed, I'm sorry, but I can think of little worse.
