Best Song of Season Two?

Postby 5 to 1? Brodeo. » Mon Mar 16, 2009 11:20 pm

In my opinion, it goes:

1. “Hurt Feelings”

Key exerpt:

I make a meal for my friends, try to make it delicious
try to keep it nutritious, create wonderful dishes
not one of them thinks about the way I feel
Nobody compliments the meal
I got hurt feelings, I got hurt feelings
I feel like a prized asshole, no one even mentions my casserole

2. “Too Many Dicks On The Dancefloor”

Key exerpt:

Goin' to the party , sippin' on Bacardi
Wanna meet a hottie
but there's Adam, Steve, and Marty
There's Billy, Todd, and Tommy
They're on leave from the army
The only boobs I’ll see tonight
Will be made of origami

3. “Sugalumps”

Key exerpt:

My sugarlumps are two of a kind
Sweet and white and highly refined
Honeys try all kinds of tomfoolery
To steal a feel of my family jewelry
My candy balls cause a kerfuffle
The ladies, they hustle to ruffle my truffle
If you party with the party prince
You get two complimentary after-dinner mints

4. “I Told You I Was Freekie”

Key exerpt:

Let's make two life-sized cardboard cut-outs of our bodies
and then pose them into sensual positions
I'll paint the wallpaper pattern onto your naked skin
Stand against the wallpaper and get off like chameleons

5. “Fashion Is Danger”

Key exerpt:

I'm the vanguard, I'm the heir, I'm the vogue
I'm the shi-shi, ooh oui-i, I'm the man a la mode
I'm the edge, I'm the chic, I'm the taste
I'm larger than life with just a hint of lace

6. “Carol Brown”

Key exerpt:

Love is a delicate thing it could just float away on the breeze

Chior of Ex-Girlfriends-
He said the same thing to me

How can we ever know if I'm the right person in this world

Chior of Ex-Girlfriends-
He means he looks at other girls

Love is a mystery, it does not follow a rule

Chior of Ex-Girlfriends-
This guy is a fool’
He’ll always be a boy; he's a man that never grew up

I thought I told you to shut uh-huh-huh-up

7. “We’re Both In Love With A Sexy Lady”

Key exerpt:

Bret- Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
Jemaine- No, I'm thinking what I'm thinking.
Bret- So you're not thinking what I'm thinking?
Jemaine- No, cause you're thinking what I'm thinking what you're thinking.
Bret- Are you talking about a girl with a beautiful smile?
Jemaine- Yeah
Bret- Like strawberry wine?
Jemaine- Yeah, yeah
Bret- Blueberry track suit pants,
Jemaine- White chocolate skin
Bret- And socks?
Jemaine- Yeah, that sounds like her.

Honorable Mention:
"Friends", "Angels", "You Don't Have To Be A Prostitute"

I voted for Too Many Dicks on the Dancefloor, plus Other for Epileptic Dogs :) Carol Brown was a close third.

I was watching Ep 2 with my almost-91-year-old Mom yesterday, and I realized how much I adore "You Don't Have To Be A Prostitute" (my Mom roared for the "pants are too tight" bit), so I voted for Other. :D

Musically, I think "Epileptic Dogs" has some of the best vocals of the season. :thumb:

I think my third favorite would be "Too Many Dicks" or "How'd You Meet Your Lady?"
Oh, fish-like Lady
Lady-like Fish
I don't think so Bro, she's a Lady, Lady, Lady, Lady
No, no, she's a fish that's just a little bit
La-dy-ish! Yeah!

I had to go with "Hurt Feelings". There are a couple of songs that are better in terms of music/lyrics, but I picked "Hurt Feelings" because it was a great song and blended nicely with the storyline.

I so dearly loved "You Don't Have to Be a Prostitute," so I had to go with Other and "Sugalumps." It was tough to take a pass on "Carol Brown" and "Too Many Dicks on the Dancefloor," though.

I voted for Suga Lumps and We're Both In Love With a Sexy Lady, but Carole Brown and You Don't Have to Be a Prostitute are right up there.

I like the 'conversational' aspect of Sexy Lady. Reminds me of Jenny, in a way.

James Bobin: “It’s like a five-year-old and a three-year-old. Jemaine’s the five-year-old, and Bret’s the three-year-old. They’re both wrong, but the five-year-old thinks he’s right.”

I voted for Hurt Feelings too. Although the lyrics are of course silly and funny, the chorus is quite melancholy and so is the music. I am a sucker for melancholy.

My 2nd favorite is Too Many Dicks. It took me forever to decipher all the lyrics, and they're hysterical, but to quote many a American Bandstand regulars, it's got a great beat and you can really dance to it.

my 1st vote is for hurt feelings because there are so many jokes packed into 1 song. the funniest line is in the beginning when jemaine goes, "it hurts our feelings when you say we're not rappers" haha and the song have a very cool beat

my 2nd vote is for I Told You I Was Freekie. at first i didnt really like the song because it is so weird, but the more i listen to it, the more i like it because it is so freakay!!!

OK tonight I can't stop listening to Carol Brown it's suuuuch a great song. But It's really neck and for me with Epileptic Dogs. I think that one of the things that's so freaking awesome about The Conchords is that even though the songs are silly and spoofy of other songs and all that, they are actually really great well written little songs.
