Sorry guys, I started a thread, but finished after your post. I'll delete it and re-post here.
Okay, take two. This was a fitting finale (they did call it the season finale tonight), with lots of bellylaughs:
The opening wakeup bit (at 11:30, no less!) with all the rhythmic concoctions, especially Jemaine with the pigeons, and Bret's tribute to the Off-Broadway show Stomp (dancing with garbage can covers on his feet!)
Eugene's retroactively/futuractively bit, along with, "You have one month to pay", Bret "Can we choose which month?"
I just couldn't read this week's NZ poster!
Murray's 300 page Off-Broadway musical - a rags-to-rags story
The BBC bit about Murray's sleep habits
The seedy hotel room 204 (was that the room in The Shining?
) where the husband was "decapitated, castrated, defanged...earlier today"
Priceless: Bret's horrified face when Jemaine says thank you to Mel's offer of a place to stay
Mel using the word "whorehome"
I wish Jemaine had sung as well, and I wasn't super crazy about the funny voice Bret used, but it still worked well for the show - I had no idea that was coming!
The "Star Wars" bits - complete with hovercraft operated by Greg
Mel's divorce talk to the guys as if they were children, and Mel getting Bret in the settlement
Murray's horror when Bret and Jemaine tell hm they've memorized their lines/the writing on the clothes bit
The Off-Broadway show was reminiscent of Waiting For Guffman: as in Guffman, the songs were perfect parodies of many a mediocre Off-Broadway show
In the show, the recap of past events: Bret's head in the chair, Jemaine the prostitute, Simon and Garfunkel - excellent!
Mel realizing Doug's harp playing was manly, and the makeout session afterwards
The final rhythmic composition to complement the opening - this time in NZ! I didn't cry, I smiled, cause they were home.
All in all a great way to end the series. Way to go, guys!
