HBO Flight of the Conchords Show - Season Two- Ep 10

Bittersweet, and some of the most interesting direction of the season.
Loved the pure whimsy of them making music from found objects.
And I liked the "wayback" framing device of the musical. Dave as the Statue of Liberty!

I don't know if they could do a 3rd season, but here's hoping.

Sorry guys, I started a thread, but finished after your post. I'll delete it and re-post here.

Okay, take two. This was a fitting finale (they did call it the season finale tonight), with lots of bellylaughs:

The opening wakeup bit (at 11:30, no less!) with all the rhythmic concoctions, especially Jemaine with the pigeons, and Bret's tribute to the Off-Broadway show Stomp (dancing with garbage can covers on his feet!)

Eugene's retroactively/futuractively bit, along with, "You have one month to pay", Bret "Can we choose which month?" :roll2:

I just couldn't read this week's NZ poster! :(

Murray's 300 page Off-Broadway musical - a rags-to-rags story

The BBC bit about Murray's sleep habits

The seedy hotel room 204 (was that the room in The Shining? :hrm: ) where the husband was "decapitated, castrated, defanged...earlier today"

Priceless: Bret's horrified face when Jemaine says thank you to Mel's offer of a place to stay :roll2: :rolls: :bounce:

Mel using the word "whorehome"

:yay: Petrov!!! :yay: I wish Jemaine had sung as well, and I wasn't super crazy about the funny voice Bret used, but it still worked well for the show - I had no idea that was coming!

The "Star Wars" bits - complete with hovercraft operated by Greg :roll2:

Mel's divorce talk to the guys as if they were children, and Mel getting Bret in the settlement

Murray's horror when Bret and Jemaine tell hm they've memorized their lines/the writing on the clothes bit

The Off-Broadway show was reminiscent of Waiting For Guffman: as in Guffman, the songs were perfect parodies of many a mediocre Off-Broadway show :roll2: :rolls: :bounce:

In the show, the recap of past events: Bret's head in the chair, Jemaine the prostitute, Simon and Garfunkel - excellent!

Mel realizing Doug's harp playing was manly, and the makeout session afterwards

The final rhythmic composition to complement the opening - this time in NZ! I didn't cry, I smiled, cause they were home. :D

All in all a great way to end the series. Way to go, guys! :thumb:

If it has to be the end, it was a great way to go
I think, in some ways. this episode had the lightest touch this season.

They are probably happy to be done with it. I hope they can go back and be really proud of those 22 episodes once they've had some time to distance themselves from the hard work.

What can I say....that show definitely had SERIES FINALE written all over it.

Well it was a nice two season ride......even though we were shorted by two episodes this season. Hmmmm, maybe the DVD will have some lost episodes on it.

It was funny how the hotel manager was telling them about the creepy things that happened in the room that they were about to rent and what a weird character was there and suddenly Mel appears behind the guys. Perfect!

Definitely a treat to get Petrov, Yelena and Me, but I wish Jemaine was singing in it. He does such a great Russian accent on their CD.

The instrumental medley in their apartment and on the sheep farm was clever, the tune reminded me of something by Steely Dan, can't remember the name, but the hook was there.

How I missed that at the end it didn't show an HBO commercial for what would be on the next episode :tears:

It was a thing of beauty, it was........a flower.

*wipes little tear, will write more when composed*

I'm very sad to see it end, but was very happy to see them smiling and shepherding off into the sunset.

Well done boys, you should be very proud of yourselves.

Thanks man.

I loved every minute of it. It was the perfect end. And that's what makes it so sad -that it felt so very much like an end -an end from which they can't return. But enough of that negative talk. I'm going to be a bad girl and stay up another hour to watch it again. There's Jemaine in shorts and Bret's head stuck in a chair and that's all the ammunition I need.

I want to give James, Bret & Jemaine big hugs right now, some tighter than others. :waggle:

I cannot wait to see this! Yes its 3:30am here. You know that Disney commercial where that adorable kid says, adorably "I'm too excited to sleep!" That's me right now.

Now, reading the posts, I'm getting a little misty - unbelievable. :tears:
But I'm so happy for them, and so proud of their hard work. Excellent job, guys!
This was a treasure from the very start, and I loved the fact that it began and ended with the same rhythmic bit, and they were so resourceful they used whatever was at hand in both places.
I'm also sad that they lost their cool apartment!

I didn't get a chance to watch it live, but I'll watch it later tonight. Honestly, I'm not exactly looking forward to it. I'm getting misty just reading through all the posts and I watched Petrov, Yelena and Me and fought back tears. I didn't think I would be this emotional.. It actually makes me feel kinda stupid. Please tell me I'm not alone.

I'm glad to hear you guys think it's a just ending.. I was just kinda hoping things wouldn't have been so closed up.

I loved the episode. i thought it was a great end to the show (or season god willing). I was very happy to hear Petrov, Yelena and Me but I agree with SW that I missed Jemaine's part in the song. There were so many great moments I can't even begin to write them. I loled when Jemaine was picking up the sheep in the end.
Overall I thought they did a fantastic job and they should feel proud of themselves for a job well done. :prayer: :supz:

First post here I believe, might as well chime in with the season finale. (I've been a fan since the One Night Stand, where I was impressed there was actually a second parody duo mighty enough to compete with Tenacious D.)

I think I preferred the ending to Season One, but then again I've never been a big fan of Petrov, Yelona, and Me, especially not as one of the songs in the final episode. I saw the end coming from the start of the season. A third season would be great, but I doubt it'll happen with the way it ended.

In short, I enjoyed the episode, but was expecting much more musically. The best music of the episode was the every day sound jam at the start and its reprise, I guess I was kind of hoping for a big power ballad number to end the series. Maybe they should have saved Sellotape or composed a new Meat Loaf-esque parody.

Anyway, as far as Season 2 and the series as a whole. I've dug most of the new music that came out of the 2nd Season and am looking forward to the updates they'll no doubt get on the upcoming CD.

So long, Flight of the Conchords the TV Show. Thanks for all the hard work, Bret and Jemaine (and James)! You created a treasure.

Sorry America threatened to eat you alive! We didn't mean to...

I hope the upcoming tour isn't a "farewell" tour for the band. You'll always find a warm welcome here, not just spooky fan love. :)
