Emmy considerations for Season Two

Postby Whambi » Tue Jun 09, 2009 1:18 am

O.K., so I was the doofus who kept thinking FOTC on HBO OnDemand will always be there, and never bothered to record the shows on VHS (no Tivo here :( ) and I thought, I'm tired of watching my favourite bits on YouTube, so I decided to buy a copy of the For Your Consideration Emmy Screener, which would at least give me three full episodes to hold me over until the Season 2 DVD comes out in August,

now, what bothers me is ONE of the three picks: The New Cup :thumb: The Tough Brets :thumb: and A Good Opportunity :wtf:

I'm sorry, but I think out of a season of only ten episodes, they chose IMHO the weakest episode for Emmy Consideration, especially since it only showcases one song sung by Bret and Jemaine "Angels". My only thinking is that they chose it because of the music industry aspect of it and maybe some industry types will think its clever

my choice for #3 would have been "Unnatural Love" or maybe "Wingmen"

The Emmys aren't until September 13th, but the nominations are July 16th, lets hope these three picks will win over the nominating committee

The New Cup :thumb: The Tough Brets and A Good Opportunity :wtf:

I would've gone with Unnatural Love and New Zealand Town instead
But if you did I'd hold you tight / Into every single night
And we'd fall asleep together / And we'd wake up in the sunlight
Well, maybe I'm a dreamer / But maybe one day you'll see / That dreams are...

:D It's going to be subjective....

My 3 choices would have been The New Cup, Unnatural Love and Wingmen. :)

New Cup, The Tough Brets, and Unnatural Love are my faves. Unnatural Love has two of the best songs of the season, that one really should be considered for something!!

My choices would be New Cup, Unnatural Love, and New Zealand Town. I know NZT only had one song, but the entire plot just killed me, and it was one of the episodes that I laughed at the most.

It's gotta be New Cup, Unnatural Love and Wingmen. Best 3 by far!

#1, #6 and #10 are the worst I reckon.

I'd say Prime Minister, The Tough Brets, and New Cup. Or the finale. I thought that was brilliant and perfect.

I'd have added Unnatural Love in the top 3 and left out Good Opportunity as I feel it was the weakest ep of the season.

Agh! I left Unnatural Love off.
Okay, sub that one for The Tough Brets.
Geez, that's hard.
The good eps were so good it's hard to choose.

I just read the Sunday, June 7th NY Times, (I know, a bit late  ) and the critics were giving their picks of what should get nominations. Unfortunately, the show wasn't listed, but Jemaine was mentioned for Best Actor in a Comedy. At this point it's all just critics' chatter, but it's nice to think his slow take to the door waiting for Murray and the hair gel may get recognized.

I'd go with New Cup and Tough Brets. Too many good ones to choose the third.

And for Best Song (Carol Brown), and Sound Mixing, I think, for Unnatural Love.

I was shocked to see they didn't nominate Too Many Dicks or Sugalumps or even Prostitute. Why? Look at the recent winners - all R to X-rated titles (D***in a Box, I'm F****** Matt Damon). Those Emmy voters are into racy titles, and with Justin T's song nominated, I wonder if Carol Brown has a chance.

And no writing nomination this year. :x

However, congrats for four nominations again this year, guys. Well done.

Forgot James got a nom for Best Director for Tough Brets! That makes five! :yay:
