another new person (rejoice) - it is I

Postby christa » Sat Dec 08, 2007 12:46 am

Hello yes this is another new person to the 'what the folk' forum thing.

I decided to join after discovering this site and noticing the lack of New Zelanders who are on here. Maybe you are all hiding. No need, the boys have opened the portal and now people in other countries can sort of understand what we are saying sometimes.

I am from New Zealand but moved to Australia about two years ago. I will be moving back in NZ most likly in '09.

So this is myself you can talk to me if you like. Thanks.
Yes, I am actualy a New Zealander. I know sheep that can prove it.

Great to meet you Christa. You have the best of both worlds going on there. *L* Which part of NZ do you hail from?

I'm hailing all the way from Rotorua or 'Roto-hole' as the locals refer to it. They call it that because its a bit of a hole. Rotorua is in the North Island of NZ, very beautiful but yea, just a bit of a hole.

You been to New Zealand before?

I like the stars on your picture.

I've never been to New Zealand before but I'll be heading to Wellington early next year. I know Rotorua well. My two best friends at uni are both NZ North Islanders so they've given me an education in Aoteoroa geography.

My boyfriend is currently cycling around the South Island. He tells me that he's at the Fox Glacier today. I believe that's on the west coast. That's all I really know about that one.

Lone Star State = Texas

"It's like a whole other country."

It's a slogan that was used in some tourism ads. I guess that for an extra fee, you can even get it on your license plates.

I'm also in Texas, Christa. South of Fort Worth in the state capital, Austin - "Live Music Capitol of the World." Doesn't that sound better than Cowtown ?

Wow, lots of people from Texas. Thats pretty cool. I have never been to america, would like to go there one day maybe.
Do you guys live on ranches? I grew up on a farm in New Zealand. We didn't have sheep though. Just cows and horses.

No ranch for me ! But you don't have to drive too far outside the city limits to find open fields, horses, and cows.

Austin is one of the fastest growing cities in the US. If you include the suburbs, the population is over 1 million, I think.

Oh yea, go the suburbs. 1 mil? Thats a fairly large amount of people. In New Zealand the whole country has a population of only 4 million!

Hi Christa. Nice to 'meet' you. I was also surprised at the number of Texans here when I signed up. I'm originally from San Antonio (Texas), but relocated about a year ago to Sin City. I miss it a lot.

No ranch life for me either, but as Poptart said, there are ranches still operating on the outskirts of the city.

See ya 'round!
