I can't believe that reviewer described him as a cellist in prom drag! What was he wearing to deserve that remark? He dressed really cool for the three times I saw him, and to describe someone as "in prom drag" sounds as though the guys did a bit with him in costume. I'm so curious - details, folks!

And why does one person say they did one encore, and someone else mentions four? Confusing.

Sorry for no meet and greet, but so glad the show was great as always, and you all got to meet up. :D

Of course by now you've read Turnip's Nigel story over on the 4/22 thread, Nancy, so he's getting the love he deserves now. The prom drag description was actually apropos - he had a light blue ruffle-front shirt on and I was really expecting to see a boutonnière on him. Since Turnip, Amanda & I likened our preshow primping to getting ready for prom, I just loved that description!

Having seen four shows, let me tell you that Nigel is really a fabulous enhancement to the look and sound of the live show. He's handling the bassline masterfully, and the cello really fills out the sound. When the three of them harmonize (Bus Driver's Song, Freebird) it's AMAZING. And when handling percussion, well, the boy can GROOVE. He gets a really big response from the crowd now, and he's as gracious as Bret & Jemaine on & off the stage. A lovely man and great musician.

I think people mean it as one whole encore but break it down and say it as four as four songs were played.

Same when someone emailed me saying 3 encores. What she meant was one encore, but including three songs. Someone emailed in to clarify what she had meant.

Does that make sense?

And welcome home :)

Thanks, Sherry.
And thanks for clearing up the "encore" question. As a performer, it was always the number of songs that were counted as the number of encores, but that was so long ago, I guess it's changed. Anyway, it's great to see they've had wonderful shows, making every one special and different. Way to go, guys! :yay:

A video snippet of Conchordian chat can be found here. It's the wee bit where Jemaine greatly pleases the Toronto crowd by telling them of the Canadian origins of "Too Many Dicks." As always, clicking on the HQ button makes it slightly less eye-melting.

Thanks for that clip Turnip! Now Canadians can hold their heads up high and declare that an incident in their country gave the boys the inspiration to write the song 'Too Many Dicks' ;)

OK, I've been sent some pretty cool pics from this gig. I will share, but am just so swamped with emails and stuff and trying to update. I don't have time. I am trying to make time but its proving hard, plus all the other stuff to wade through and write.

Bear with me, as soon as I can I'll post them.

Nice. I like the perspective from the balcony...you can see what they're doing onstage. :) That was nice video...so clear.

Here is another one.... by the same person.

I love that Jemaine stood up for them- "Lady, shut up, now your just being rude". You all gave amazing accounts, but to see it was awesome!

It looks like this person got a good number of their songs the first night :) Yay.
