Ooh I hope so - I love it when people post videos. You all are so talented and photogenic. :eyelashes:

I learned how to play Issues on uke but I'm not very good at it, so I haven't done a video yet. I'm hoping I'll improve but I seem to have reached a plateau. :?

I now have a teeny netbook with a webcam, but issues with my laptop take precedence. Once I hopefully fix the lappy, I'll go for it  on the netbook.

Being not very good at it hasn't stopped me. Record the video anyway, mock. I'd like to see more people than just me and biscuit post videos.

And Nancy, get that laptop fixed. I want to see Youk in action.

(Gulp) I did a drastic thing today - I bought a new Gateway laptop on Home Shopping, with Windows 7 Home Premium and a webcam, so in a couple of weeks, I'll have no flipping excuse. :sofa:
That means I'll be able to hear all the newer videos!!! :yay:

*Goes to practice instead of having a snack*

Welcome, rachel! :cheer: :folkon: :cheer:

We always encourage our new members to make a beginner video as soon as you can strum out a song...not so we can laugh at you or anything... :halo: ...but so that you can look back and see how far you've come. Truly, you will be amazed at how quickly you will have peeling, sore fingertips...and will be playing a zillion songs and having the time of your life!!

What three chords do you know?

It's true - I look back at my first video and cringe, but then smile because I know that I've come so far

Welcome, Rachel! :D

Do record a video  I know it sounds daunting, but believe me it really is fun, both making one and looking back on it later :) I don't even cringe watching my first one tbh. I still think it was fairly good for a noob. I still trip up though, even after a year

I just know C, F and G7 so I'm just making little tunes out of them.
the challenge for me will be recording a video (without a webcam) and trying to put it on the internet, but I'll work it out. Which thread do we put them in? I'll stop being a noob soon.

I'd like to officially add my name to this rollcall.

Rachel, I remember just after I bought my sherry I was having second thoughts about my ability to play. I was looking at the chords for the original version of Somewhere over the Rainbow and just stummed out F, G7 & C, and something just clicked and I instantly felt ok about it all (I'm aware of how weird that sounds  !).

Can't wait to see a video.

You can play "Friends" (FotC) with A, D and G, Rachel. It's super easy :-)

Rachel and kipples, welcome! :cheer:

Rachel, in your excitement the other night, can you remember what chords Bret and Nigel were discussing for "5 Foot 2, Eyes Of Blue"? I haven't found that sheet music yet, but I'm going to look it up. I'd love to know which chords they were stuck on.

Also, if you know C, A minor is another one-finger chord that makes a song in C sound fuller. So if you play the progression, C, A minor, F, and G7, you can play lots of tunes! Go for it!

Kipples, can't wait to hear your playing!

kipples has some excellent vids up already, Nancy! :)

*edited to fix chord placement. It never transposes correctly!

C E7
Five foot two eyes of blue
A7
But oh what those five foot could do
D7 C
Has anybody seen my girl
E7
Turned up nose and turned down hose
A7
Never had another beau
D7 C
Has anybody seen my girl
A7
Now if you run into five foot two covered with fur
D7
Diamond ring and all those things
G7 F
Bet your life it isn't her
C E7
Could she love could she woo
A7
Could she could she could she coo
D7 G7 C
Has anybody seen my girl

I got interrupted in the middle of that post, and forgot where I was. I meant to say I couldn't wait to hear Rachel play, and kipples, er... I forgot what I had planned to post about you, kipples.

Thanks for the chords, Laura. I can't wait to go play it. But I always heard it "Has anybody seen my gal?" It is the definitive song for dancing the Charleston. :nana:
