Ah Ukemas, one of the funner feasts of the Catholic Church, celebrating saint Ukulius, who was defenestrated by the Hawaiians for refusing to admit that Worths were better than Aquilas if you preferred picking to strumming.

Hee hee! Poor St. Ukulius. There are no stained glass windows depicting the event, for obvious reasons.

Nancy: Yes!

Inspiration has sadly left me these days. I'm hoping the original Christmas songs will inspire me to write

When are these due? I am looking at a pretty heavy schedule from now until the end of my college semester around mid Dec. Then I'll have all the time in the world to write a great xmas related uke song...

I said 10/12, because I wanted to ship a prize to the winner before Christmas.

I could extend the deadline if everyone is ok with it? I don't necessarily have to send the prize before X-mas...

Whaddya think?

I have a tune and one verse done! :D It's totally lame still, but at least this one didn't make me vomit...hardly at all! And I heard my daughter humming the tune last night, so that's a good sign, right?

I'm cool with an extension because I currently have no way to film/record myself. :?

Does anyone else find themselves constantly wondering if their song is truly original or something that I've heard somewhere before...? :| I'm sorry, I'm an overthinker and it drives me a bit crazy.

Nonch :D

Having other people hum the song is a sign of success indeed!

I always worry that I've stolen my melodies as well. Never mind  Unless someone in your family asks you when you learned to play [insert well known song], you're in the clear:)

Sparky's Response to the Christmas challenge

Here it is :worry:

Um, it was VERY spontaneous and rushed, because it started as a "I'll just play Bret while I'm waiting for my assignment to print out" (it's only 4 pages lol, but it had been a trying day and my uke is always within reach...well, you know how it is  )

Anyway so then I thought about Biscuit's challenge and well. Here we are. I'm a bit past the deadline, but it's peak time at uni for assignment deadlines and it's all been kind of chaotic recently so... *excuses excuses*

There was talk of extending it. I thought, so long as no one else enters, I have a fair chance at winning it :P

Maybe it will spur people on to post their songs.

"....and you wonder at the sky
falling down at your feet
it's the miracle of life
and it's happening in your street..."

The next verse was beautiful too..."*something* sparkle in your eye...*something* want to be out there right now..."
I'm not kidding when I say that I'd buy that. That was a really beautiful song and played so well! I still have the melody in my head....very catchy- can you tell that I loved it? I did! :D

I never finished mine....got plenty of lyrics and only a bit of melody.

Thanks for posting!

Sparky, you're such a freaking natural!!! :D

I loved your song:)

(I would appreciate the lyrics in writing if you don't mind, as I couldn't hear everything clearly  )

And I had agreed to extend the deadline until Xmas too, so come on the rest of you :cheer:

^ No prob, just added them to the YouTube vid actually cos it is quite hard to hear them

Here they are. Snowy Christmas Song lyrics:

When you walk in through the door
You shake off the snow and it falls
To the ground and melts away
Like the best part of the day

You've just been playing outside
Just been shaping snow like clay

And the sparkle in your eye
like a snowflake passing by
You want to be out there right now
Where feeling young is allowed

And you wonder at the sky
Falling down around your feet
It's a miracle of life
And it's happening in your street

And the sparkle in your eye
Like the years that pass you by
You want to be out there right now
Where feeling young is allowed

And the best part is when you go inside
Where it's mince pie time
Warm up over mulled wine
And it feels like christmas time
It feels like christmas time
Feels like christmas time

Thanks biscuit- and yep, come on ukuladies :D More songs please! :cheer: Don't leave mine on its own!!
