FOTC... the video game!

Postby Bad Atom » Mon May 26, 2008 5:17 am

I combined two of my favorite things, FOTC and classic video games, and came up with this vintage ad for a hypothetical Conchords Atari game. It's just a shame it isn't a real game! (UPDATE: Now it is, and it's finally here!)

And just for the heck of it...

Very, very creative Bad Atom. Love how you got Bret's stripe-y shirt down perfectly.

Get in line. I'd buy it in a heartbeat :thumb:

That would be the perfect game to add to my small collection of games for my ancient Nintendo Gameboy. (I think I got it back in '95 or so, and it's in black and white. It feels about as basic as the old Pong game console I had in the '70s.)

Yeah Atari!! Very cool Atom. Love the old school graphics.

Hey Sherry- maybe you can put them in as a emoticons- if it's alright with Atom that is.

Awesome, Baddie!
Dude, you should totally make a flash of it! A fake commercial! It would be awesome! All 70s style. Just get old Atari commercials and superimpose your game onto it HAHAH!

Okay, the only "game" I ever played was Super Mario Brothers.
But I am so impressed by your work, Bad Atom - I'd buy a system and play for sure! :D

The guys should see this!

(Crap, I told myself not to start another project, but I did it anyway...)

I'm now making the actual game. I used to program little stupid games with GameMaker several years ago, and although my skills are a bit rusty, it's looking good so far. Don't expect anything fancy, though, it's supposed to be low-tech. It looks almost exactly like the pictures above.

And if anyone has any ideas for levels, I'm listening... :)

Just to keep everyone updated... the game is probably a third of the way done already. I've even made some "bleep-blip-bleep" versions of their songs that go with the levels.

So far, my favorite level is the one where you control Bret (with Jemaine following right behind him) and you're being chased by the muggers. The only way to escape is for Bret to jump over a high wall and leave Jemaine behind. Sound familiar?

It's about halfway done now (6/12 levels). There is now a "Business Time" level, followed by the "Two Minutes in Heaven" level.

Now that sounds like a fun level. lol! If you're still looking for ideas, my FOTC warped little mind came up with a "time-tripping acid level." You know, where if you pick a good one you can go back to the 70s, but if it's a bad one you get stuck in the mid 80s.
