:yay:  Wow, that's excellent news, 4ever! I know how long you've been waiting to see WIUO live and I'm so glad that your chance may be coming real soon! Hopefully they'll confirm it and I'll keep an eye out for more info too.

I hope there'll be quite a few WTFers who will be able to see them live while they're touring the US. :D

Thanks Venus! Fingers crossed they will be visiting a city near me and in a perfect world the tour will be a stopover on the way to all of you in Europe.

Yay for WTF! meet-ups! Glad you want to attend their gigs too, Deirdre & Nancy! There will probably be more dates so I'll keep on looking out for them. Some tickets go on sale in July so a formal announcement can't be too far away. :D

We did get some other exciting news though. Megan & Francis now have an 8 week year old daughter! So happy for them! :babyblanket: :baby: :babycrawl:

And WIUO are currently working on an ALBUM!

Interview about WIUO's tour & album on Firstline

Ukeleles the sound of the summer
Tuesday 16 Sep 2014 9:40 a.m.

The Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra is releasing its debut album in November, before touring New Zealand for the first time in two years.

After starting in the capital, the 11-person band is now spread around the country. But they got together in Wellington last week for a quick jam.

The record, Be Mine Tonight, aims to capture the sound of summer.

"Road trips, barbecues, Saturday nights – all of that," says Carmel Russell.

In their nine years together, the Orchestra has released a number of EPs, but never an album.

Watch the video for Laura Macdonald's full report.

Can't wait to listen to the album :D
