It's been many years since I've been in the UK but even back in the day they were showing commercials before films - like Haagen Daaz etc. I had never seen such a thing before. I remember in Brighton the newspaper would show 2 times for the film - the time the ads started and the time the actual movie started and they were usually about 30 minutes apart. In fact going to the movies over there was a strange experience in many ways. I bought what I thought was a brownie at one concession stand and it was in fact a prune cake. They also had sweet and sour popcorn - weird. And I went to a theater in London where the usher herded everyone into the center and made us all sit next to each other, at least there was a bar in the theater. :drinkers:

Wouldn't you just love to go to a screening of Gentleman Broncos, and have the guys herd us all to the center like that usher did? I'd do it if it meant sitting between them - a Conchord Sandwich! :D

Here's a look at Jemaine as Ronald Chevalier:

I admit I'm a bit worried about this. I'm hoping it's not low-brow silly with cheap gags.

Well, I loved Napoleon Dynamite, and some think that was pretty low-brow. Jemaine looks good though!

it's neat they've given his character his own website, that's some look they've given him, lol--i've never seen napolean dynamite and am not familiar with the director's work so really not sure what to expect--groinal axis is kind of funny tho...

Jemaine's look reminds me of Will Ferrell as Ron Burgundy (Anchorman), with that bouffed up hair, and his voice is a good sendup of James Mason.
I hope there's a good script. Napoleon Dynamite may have been low-brow, but it wasn't chock full of two hours of cheap gags. The script had some thought behind it, and hopefully this one will too.

Napoleon Dynamite made me laugh quite alot.
I'm warming to Ronald now, I was just freaked out at first! I just can't get used to Jem without glasses, stupid thing to say, right?

Napoleon Dynamite had several laugh out loud moments, and some really sweet moments as well.

I didn't like Napolean Dynamite and was worried about GB but I think the youtube clip is so awesome that I was compelled to comment on his groinal axis. Well I don't need much to compel me to comment on things but whatever. I love that Jemaine looks, acts and sounds completely unlike himself. It is a bit odd at first to see him like that but it's good to know he's so versatile. And I can continue to fantasize about cutie Jemaine without being distracted by Chevalier's smarminess. Maybe I will see this film afterall - at least to see Jemaine on the big screen.

i will see it for sure, i agree it is cool that he's able to create a character completely different from himself, i was kind of looking forward to looking at (and listening to) the sixy jemaine i'm used to on the big screen for two hours but if he's being himself i guess he's not acting! he's quite a multi-talented fellow... :)
