Good. I'm glad they are still showing it at atleast a few theaters so there's a small chance of some word of mouth excitement spreading.

Mock, what part of Kentucky are you in? I have a bunch of family in southeast Kentucky. I haven't been there for years but I have lots of fond memories of playing in the mountains during summers and Christmases there when I was little.

Should I be saying this online? :hrm:  ;) I live in central Kentucky. The Bluegrass region. Lots of horse farms. I lived in Blacksburg VA for a while though so I've driven through SE KY many times to go back there and visit friends. It is very beautiful. Lots of poverty though. Hee, I'm reminded of one time Hubby and I were visiting a friend at his grandmother's house someplace out there, I can't remember where now, probably somewhere out near Hazard. Our friend gave us directions, and after you got off the highway you had to "follow the creek" for half a mile or so to the house. So Hubby and I are looking for a road and we couldn't find it, so we went to a general store nearby and asked them for supplemental directions. Turns out you actually, literally have to get IN the creek and wade downstream (well, upstream because it was on a mountain) to get to this house! :rolls: Hubby and I laughed for days about that one. ;)

OK, sorry, back to Gentlemen Broncos. I guess I'll probably get to see it on DVD some day but I was really looking forward to seeing it on a big screen. I wonder if Jemaine is bummed about this or if he's philosophical about it. I imagine a little of both. Well he can at least console himself with knowing his role got good reviews.

Gentlemen Broncos - A film

Postby 4everconchordsfan » Thu Nov 05, 2009 7:55 pm

Mock, dont panic yet, its opening more widely on November 13th. If you dont mind bunking out on the sofa you can always drive into Chicago, stay with me & see it here in Chicago?

I didnt post any more movie times cos we suddenly got slammed with calls & I had to actually work, ugh. Will post some more as time allows.

I do believe that we will see the movie on more screens in mid November. It appears that Fox Searchlight has cancelled the press junket for the film, still thinking that the movie will be opened as planned. The list of opening cities for the next couple weeks is still on the Fox Searchlight GB site. They have not made any changes there. There is hope that eveyrone will get their chance to see GB. *fingers crossed*.

Eorious & I went to the 'free' screening in Chicago on Monday. The turn out was amazing! There was a lot of laughter and the audience seemed to enjoy it. I loved seeing Jem on that giagantor screen, he was brilliant. Michael did a great job. I'd see it again. Well to look at Jem some more. LOL. :D

There seems to be conflicting info on this:

"But with the reviews scathing and a wider release unlikely to bring in new fans, Searchlight has apparently decided to cut their losses and give up on bringing the film beyond New York and L.A."

and this:

"Unfortunately GENTLEMEN BRONCOS will not be opening in any additional markets after Friday, November 6th. All screenings, etc. have been cancelled please do not include film in your calendars or reviews. Thank you."

It seems as though Fox Searchlight have yet to officially announce the cancellations apart from contacting theatres in advance and telling them the screening has been pulled.

Here's a clip from 'Made In Hollywood' of interviews with various people involved in GB including Jemaine :)

Thanks for the translation. I thought he said he had his pants off in the scene.

My first gif encountered technical difficulties but I find it strangely compelling.

Here's a proper one.

If he had actually done some acting with his pants off I think the box office returns wouldn't have been so lame.
