Yup, I agree with both of you ardy and Sherry. I guess what I mean is that it's nice to have a venue where you can 'share' in their humour and overall brilliance on a weekly basis. "I know we're gonna laugh tonight because it's Sunday, and Sunday night is the night we usually laugh. Aw yeah, it's FotC Time!"

Now that I've been exposed I will try to keep up with the guys and their seperate and joint projects, and your site will no doubt help in that, but sometimes out of sight is out of mind. And if their creative projects are mostly in NZ, will we really get to see/hear what they're up to?

Oh well, all speculation really. It is what it is. And it will be what it will be.
And so will we.

Sometimes....but in this case, not for me - I awake everyday with one of their songs playing in my head. Seriously, I do. And I love it.

Jemaine: Have been shorn.

If you visit this site and forum then yes you will :) I have always included news and info about their other projects and will continue to. With a new look site coming soon there will be much more info on their other projects and their collaborators and so on. The Jemaine and Bret sections will hopefully be more like their own fan sites over Conchords based info.

I also plan on having a proper section for Conchords cohorts and have the NZ Connections page expanded.

And anything that airs on TV there will no doubt make its way online somewhere, somehow so can be seen by those not in NZ  8)

Anyways :topic: from here :)

Sherry, there is a special place in heaven for you for all the hard work you have done.

Also, looking on the bright side, as someone on fotcmb noted, on the new show there may be more costuming opportunities like this:

I'll miss the t.v. show if it ends after this season, but like others have said, would much rather see them go out on top rather than hang on.

Whatever they do, as FotC or together in other projects and media or separately, we'll know about it from this site and can keep up with them. That's all that really matters to me. I think they're both hugely talented and wish them well no matter what they're doing.

Its a vehicle for the Conchords talents, but its also a drain on them IMHO. This second season has seen a lot of people saying the songs are not as strong in many respects. The wealth of material built up over a number of seasons touring a new live act (02/03/04) gave them some great songs that had time to develop and become the classics people know today.

I am not really desparate to see a 3rd season or more of a TV show tbh. I don't think creatively they can keep coming up with stories for more seasons as well as material. I think for themselves they need a break.
If there are no more seasons after this one, its not a biggie in my book. I can understand it upsetting those who have known them from their TV show first, but it really does not define the Conchords nor is it the be all and end all of who and what they are as performers. They are so much more than a TV show and if they are no longer confined and pigeonholed like that it'd work for me :)

I again like that our TV is not set in stone and has the ability to be flexible and inventive in its programming. Alas the US market is far more commercially and ratings driven by networks than it is here. Very cutthroat over there. Just sayin :)

I couldn't agree with you more! I think they guys struggled a bit with this season because of the ridiculous time restraints "tv execs" put on them... all the execs care about is $$ and how fast it can be produced to get the $$. Take for example Coldplay. That 3rd was my least favorite because of similar restraints and pressure put on them by their label. The album IMO suffered artistically because of that... now I'm not saying this season sucks.. I've only seen the 1st episode as I don't have HBO :( but, based on what everyone says and posts, I can only come to the conclusion that like Coldplay, they are a group of guys that thrive off the crowd and touring. (ie Viva la Vida) I think they'll take the break from the show, get back to their roots, do a few gigs, and maybe, just maybe... HBO will have them back? That is assuming they leave...

I wish the guys all the luck and I will miss them, keep them in my heart and in my dvd player and support them no matter what. :)

If it's only 2 seasons and out for the Conchords, then so be it. They should be doing what they want and love and I'll just have to hope that whatever that may be ends up on YouTube or DVD or gives them enough material and the desire in a few years to say "Hey, let's start talking to some Cable execs and get the show back up."

(How's that for a run-on sentence?!)

Their popularity is such that I don't think it'll matter how long they're gone from our airwaves. We'll be waiting.....kinda like Mel outside their apartment.......

If they aren't doing things the way they want....it'll compromise the end result. I just want them to have fun doing their thing, their way, and allowing us to watch.
(Ooooh, that could be interpreted another, smuttier, way.)

Granted, this is coming from someone who has only seen ep 1 from season 2 and all of the clips on YouTube.....so I realize I still have plenty to look forward to.....

Boy, do you! I'd suggest not watching YouTube clips anymore - if you're going to watch them - watch them in their entirety. A lot of their jokes are context based and once you see the whole finished product you will enjoy it 10 times more!

Definitely! My local library has the DVD, though you do have to put a hold on it because it's usually checked out.

Wow, I use way too many pronouns...

By "them" I mean FOTC: The Show

If you're going to watch the show, watch the whole episode and not just snippets on youtube (like memorable quotes montages or videos of the songs from the episode).

Because a lot of the memorable quotes and snippets, while hilarious on their own, are even MORE hilarious when you have the whole context of the episode as well.

:)

Just a suggestion to heighten your FOTC experience

Believe me, I learned that's true after getting and watching season 1.

BUT......I don't have HBO. It's a compulsion. They are there on YouTube for me to see and I cannot help myself. I've been to the Wiki FotC pages and read each episode's synopsis. I told my husband just this evening that if those were making me laugh my a$$ off, imagine how great it'll be when I can get season 2. But I'm afraid I can't stay away.....and season 2 won't be out til...what? August? UGH. Nope, can't do it.

(The Epileptic Dog song about makes me pee my pants every time, especially the remix, lights, and resulting epileptic seizures.)

Ohhhh... for some reason I thought you said you'd only seen episode 1 of season 1... and I was like, "Fo' shizzle??"

I'm trying to resist seeing too much of the shows before I actually see them. It's been hard, though. I do watch the videos. And sometimes I look at the season two screencaps. And the episode threads. But that's all!
