Jemaine's Lisp

Postby Ozpot » Thu Apr 02, 2009 6:56 pm

Dude, okay, I have been wondering this for a while.
Now I'm sure that most of us know that when the J-Dawg has a big grin with his teeth, there is a small gap between them. Not that there is anything wrong with that. In fact, it's strangely attractive.
Upon many listens of Business Time, I always hear a lisp in his voice with he line, "..because I'm so INTENSHE."
And the always lovable Hiphopopotamua opening, which goes as follows:

"They call me the Hiphopopatomush,
my lyricsh are bottomlessh."

I hear it often. Maybe I'm going bonky, who knows. It could just be a mocking voice, or just for the songs, or maybe he really has a lisp. Dude, what.

Maybe it's because I refuse to believe there is any fault with Jemaine whatsoever, but I just don't hear it :dunno:. I hear him holding it a bit, "I'm so intensssssssssse" that's about it.

It's okay, you can believe whatever you like. I find it quirky for some reason. It could just be a mocking thing for certain songs, and probably not real. In fact, it seems to be more sixy than quirky. >_>

Having spent a fair while in conversation with him and heard him singing live and only about 3 foot away I don't recall any sign of a lisp. I think its simply you are hearing his accent.

I have never heard his singing and thought he had a lisp. I certainly don't hear what you hear in that song.

Sherry, is as we say in HR, the subject matter expert here. :D

No, but there is a softness to how a lot of New Zealanders pronounce words. I think it's nice.

Oh, now I feel horribly embarrassed. XD

Maybe it's just my kooky imagination running away with me, thinking about how much more sixual J would sound with a lingering of the Sss. That must be it. >_>

"I think...sometimes, you hear what you want to hear....." :D

I wouldn't worry about it- if you hear it in that way and it's endearing- don't worry about it! It's all good. :)

Where's the :I'm sooo jealous, but good jealous: emoticon when you need it? Kudos to Sherry. You lucky lucky one
But if you did I'd hold you tight / Into every single night
And we'd fall asleep together / And we'd wake up in the sunlight
Well, maybe I'm a dreamer / But maybe one day you'll see / That dreams are...
