I think he looks skinny, too skinny, like he did in those Newtown Salad performances. I'm not saying he was manorexic, he just hadn't blossomed into the meatiness and huggaliciousness of his manhood. He didn't yet have the type of body that makes me want to pin him down and wrestle him.

Young Jemaine isn't "skinny", he's lean. Lean and muscular and still curvy. Yum. I like him older and filled out too, though. So I'm afraid I have nothing really to add to this conversation, other than HUMINA to all the stages of Jemaine. Nice avatar nonch. :thumb: I would ask if I could steal it but I'm not done enjoying the one I have, lol.

Since I have nothing better to do than debate this further I will add that the words "skinny" and "lean" mean the same thing to me. So neener neener. He's too skinny for his head. You know how big his head is right? Well imagine that on a thinner body - tis freaky!

Cool avatar, nonch. 8)

Someone just tweeted this to the WTF! Twitter account. Not sure what City Voice is yet though. So far I think it's the name of a newspaper. :dunno:

@whatthefolk if anyone has old copies of City Voice there should be heaps of Humourbeast stuff in them.

edit: Got a reply :)

@whatthefolk City Voice a Wellington indie newspaper from the 90s. I was arts editor and often covered the boys activities.

Ooh, I hope we can find this somewhere!

Oh! That's so amazing!!! Now we just sit back and wait for some pack rat to stumble upon this thread and whip out their old back issues for us!

Cheers to whoever tweeted this at us! :yay: 8) "Heaps of stuff..."! :D Venus, were you tweeting about the Humourbeasts and this person randomly noticed it and offered the info?

SW: Young Jemaine is not a lollypop head. :hrmpf:

That surprises me. Thanks. Taika looks older to me in that old black and white of the "So you're a Man" crew.

You know, it might be in some public library. I know the free Mpls Weekly City Pages is in our public libraries from the day it started and that's been 30+ years.

Yeah, thanks to Simon for the info! :thumb:

I tweeted from the What The Folk! Twitter account about the Taki Rua webpage with Humourbeasts info and said that I'd love to see some more so Simon who is one of our followers and also happens to be a former Arts editor of City Voice tweeted back with that info. Gotta love the Interwebs! ;)

I hope we can get hold of these articles somehow! :)

My loins stand up and take notice of Jemaine no matter what...except when his beard is too homeless-man-like..... :?

My loins are fickle, but they like the homeless beard.

I don't want to imagine the fantasies one can have concerning homeless-man-bearded Jemaine.... :P

unless they involve shaving...then I get it....

That's the youngest picture I've seen Jemaine in and he's about 22-ish, right? for some reason, I'm always trying to find younger pics of them (probably because I imagine them as adorable kids) I've seen Bret as a 10 year old  ...but does anyone know what the youngest picture of Jemaine is?

Nope, I do believe that took place in the early 00s, so he would have been in his late 20, maybe even 30. Doesn't look it, though.

According to the photographer, this picture:

was taken around 1995 or 1996, so Jemaine is about 21-22 here (and Taika and Bret 20-21!).
