Totally agree. I'd love to see J dancing at a party. ;) Definitely helped that he's good friends with Kristen. Good on Kristen for giving us a great interview! :D

Fingers crossed! I really hope you're able to go a screening at a convenient time, Diah. It's been a long time coming but it's worth the wait. :D

WWDITS had another strong weekend as it continues to expand across the US :)
Though it's one of the few specialty titles out there without Oscar nominations tied to it, Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi's "What We Do In The Shadows" had a very nice weekend anyway. Distributed by Unison Films in association with Paladin, the film went from 2 to 16 theaters in its second weekend and jumped 116%, grossing $142,000 for a $8,875 per-theater-average. Its total now stands at $236,000 a week before rolling out to the top 25 markets.

Thanks, Venus. Finding out tomorrow.

My son didn't think the Vlad and Viago funny or die video was very funny. I wonder if that means he wont like WWDITS? :? He's such a movie snob.

It made my daughter laugh until she cried even though she was in a bad mood. Maybe its J&T's adorableness we also appreciate. :P

I think the Funny or Die video is a good introduction to WWDITS. If your son didn't enjoy it then perhaps the film isn't for him but it would be nice if he did actually end up enjoying the film. If he's going to see WWDITS, let us know what he thinks!

He's also doing a FB Q&A with Funny or Die at 4pm ET. :)

Just got home from seeing WWDITS with my kids. We all had good laughs! The audience even clapped.
I'm so grateful for Jemaine and Taika. It's been a tough week for my family.

Yay, I'm glad you've finally seen WWDITS and both you and other members of the audience enjoyed it! :D

WWDITS had another strong weekend in the US and looks likely to gross more than $1 million
"What We Do in the Shadows" (Unison/Paladin) Week 3
$262,890 in 46 theaters (+30); Cumulative: $537,000

This New Zealand vampire rom-com continues to expand, and expand well. With nearly three times as many theaters this continues with a decent ($5,000+) PSA and looks headed for an unexpected gross considerably over $1 million. 35 new markets come on board this week.

Finally, one of the few specialty holdovers titles out there without Oscar tied to it -- Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi's "What We Do In The Shadows" -- had a very nice third weekend. Distributed by Unison Films in association with Paladin, the film went from 16 to 46 theaters in its second weekend and jumped 105%, grossing $263,000 for a $5,717 per-theater-average. Its total now stands at $537,000 and it looks like it's becoming one of 2015's few indie breakouts so far.

Hope your boy loves it!

My 16 year old son actually laughed out loud. My daughter and I were both shocked. He wants to be a filmmaker so he analyzes EVERYTHING. I was happy. :supz:

Both my kids love Taika and Viago. I have no idea what's up with that. :puzzled: ( Taika's a talented guy, but as a Jemainiac I must protest).

Hi all, just popping in for a rare visit!

I managed to see the movie last week. It had already been open for two weeks so I was surprised to see a few dozen people in the theatre on a Friday evening. The crowd, which seemed to be quite varied in ages, were really into it.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. It was fresher than I'd anticipated and the story held quit a few unexpected twists and turns. I hate to say it but my favourite vamp was Deacon, but they were all really good (hubby felt that J was under-utilized  ).

I'm so glad they were able to release the movie in so many cities and I hope it continues to get the recognition it deserves!

Now, I can't wait to see People, Places and Things...

I totally agree. That was my first comment when the film ended. Viagio (Taika) was adorable so I get the appeal. Deacon (Jonny) was cocky so that's fun. But Vlad (Jemaine) was super sexy. Hope there's more Jemaine in the extras!

People,Places,Things should be amazing!
