Due to other commitments, Kristen Schaal will not be appearing with FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS. The special guest will now be EUGENE MIRMAN.

:supz: :woohoo:

Thanks Venus for posting.

Oh cool. I guess I should have asked Eugene about it the other night then we could have shared our anxiety over the ash cloud.

According to MySpace, Eugene has a few upcoming gigs in the US, 2nd-5th May which makes me wonder whether he's going to cancel those dates or someone else is going to open during those Euro tour dates. :dunno:

I was assuming they'd be Brooklyn shows that he could probably get away with canceling easily but how weird - The Meadowlands??? Fairleigh Dickinson??? They are both very close to me and I can't really imagine him performing at either place. Looks like he's part of some group..or something.

"Airspace was being closed based on theoretical models, not on facts." No shi-. This debacle was seemingly the fault of the disorganized EU. They seriously need to get their shi- together in future.

The turnaround time is impressive, considering they would not bump regularly schedule passengers (thank you!) but had to fit stranded people into non full planes & added extra fleets.

Phew. Now I can enjoy the amazing photos of that god forsaken volcano.

Amanda was telling me that, because of the general recession going on around the world, the planes already scheduled for this time of year were not that full anyway so getting the "backlog" on the flights already scheduled is working out alright. Except due to the sheer number of "backlogged" passengers it is going to take some time.

Right. I know my plane was very far from full when I booked it, of course that may be different now. I understand it's going to take some time to get everyone that was stranded home but I'm sure they are happy to know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

We've got a local reporter over there who was visiting his daughter in Paris when all this happened. He's still not home. He said when he got to the airport after the reopening announcement, he was told there were 8,000 people in front of him, and since it was first come first served, he'd have to wait until Saturday to get home. So we get a first hand report by phone of what it's been like, but he sure would like to be home and on-camera. :?

When you think of it, this could have been sooooo much worse. I'm glad good fortune was on your side, folks! :D

I'm sure this won't be a popular opinion, but IF they'd gone ahead and flown and even 1 plane crashed due to ash/rock/heat/whatever killing its engines, then hundreds of people could be dead and everyone would be outraged that they were allowed to fly.
They may have gone a bit overboard but this is one instance where erring on the side of caution was a good thing.
I'd much rather be held up and inconvenienced in another country than praying for a fast and painless death as my plane falls from the sky.

That being said, I hope the worst is over and all the people who were stuck in airports and cities they didn't intend to visit get home asap! :)

And I reallyreally hope this doesn't affect FOTC shows!
