If Barry White were Irish, he'd call him a "sexy laddie snake!" :D

I stand corrected. He is a sixy laddie snake, though.

Hey - can someone direct me to the tour poster gallery from last year? I can't seem to find it. I looked on FOTC's website but I don't think it's a complete list.

I have an idea for a t-shirt but I want to make sure I didn't actually already see it on a poster, lol. My brain does that sometimes - sees a really good idea and then pretends it made it up on its own. Pesky brain.

LauraK wrote:Their 2 hands on either side of the band name are facing outward......to me, the "OK" sign is kind of sideways. Do those two gestures mean something in sign language maybe? (Bret's is close to "H", but his thumb's in the wrong postition...)

I'm sure I'm reading more into it than was intended...

I don't think so, Laura. I got suspicious about those hand gestures that they're not from the sign language but have religious background. So I checked other posters of this artist that he did for different bands and you can find the same hand gestures there too. These are mudras. While the colours and details of the London 18th poster's are brilliant, those hands put me off. Sorry to everyone who is into Hindu religion for my aversion.

I thought I liked the Lego one, but then I saw the Snake Lips and I love it!!! It is just so different than anything that I've seen! The interpretation of Bret is awesome, and I love how they managed to make J a sexy snake

LauraK that is a really great idea to have a tour poster smackdown, I'd play

emira- thanks for looking into that. Very intersting indeed, and it does seem there was more to it than at first meets the eye!

Types of Mudras and their Benefits:

Gyan Mudra Effective in cases of mental ailment, imparts happiness, the intellect develops, memory is sharpened.

Method: Join the tips of the index finger and thumb and keep the other 3 fingers stretched and joined.

Apaan Mudra Helps in clearing the body by elimination of waste matter from the mouth, eyes, ears, nose etc. Helps when urine is obstructed, reduces constipation.

Method:Join the tip of the thumb with the tip of middle and ring finger, keeping the other finger straight.

Hm. I'm not Hindu and obviously didn't get it but....I wonder why he chose those particular hand-symbols? The first one imparting happiness and better memory I can get behind, but the other one...with its waste-elimination?

Maybe the guys get a little irregular on tour and this was his way of helping out. ;)

Aimee- we just have to get someone to host it.....:eyelashes: I bet there'll be loads of players. :)

I was looking at last year's tour posters and I noticed this -

Image

The artist's name is different than this year's mysterious hindu hand signal poster. I must be missing something here. :hrm:

Drew Millward didn't do that poster. The posters he did last year were Bloomington and Madison.

Yeah - I went back and looked and his name is Guy Burwell. I just don't get the hand thing! What is up with that? Happiness, good memory and unobstructed bowels. I mean, these are all lovely sentiments but I don't understand why they keep cropping up in Conchords posters. :hrm:

As a former artist, I will tell you why.

Hands not doing anything are boring. It's more fun to have them doing something, even if it's just praying for unobstructed bowels. Also, I will bet dollars to donuts that the artists doing them were their own hand models, and those are pretty easy poses to do.
