A hundreds-strong queue stretched down Stuart St this morning as Flight of the Conchords fans lined up in the hope of securing tickets to the comedy duo's Dunedin show.

Online customers snapped up 550 tickets in a pre-sale on Tuesday and the promoters released a further 300 tickets this morning which had to be bought in person from the Regent Theatre.

However, the queue was so long Regent staff got permission from the promoters to sell a further 200 tickets once the initial 300 had been sold.

The remaining tickets for the June 23 show went on sale at noon at the Regent.

Elsewhere in the country hardcore fans lined up 15 hours early for tickets to the show.

Flight of the Conchords star Jemaine Clement arrives at Dunedin International Airport yesterday afternoon. Photo by Craig Baxter.

One half of Flight of the Conchords, Jemaine Clement, drew only the odd whisper and occasional pointed finger as he went through Dunedin International Airport yesterday afternoon.

Flight of the Conchords will perform for a sold-out crowd at Dunedin's Regent Theatre tonight, as part of a nine-show tour of New Zealand.

Although Clement was accompanied by opening act Arj Barker and an entourage of about 10 people, the other half of the duo, Bret McKenzie, was nowhere to be seen.

Tonight's show will be the Conchords' first performance in Dunedin and although Clement (38) gave little away, he gave a hint of his dry humour by advising fans not to expect "too much".

"We just do our songs and talk."

Clement was pleased with the "positive" response to their tour so far, and said the success of the duo was down to shared interests.

"We both really like music and making jokes."

The duo will perform in Queenstown tomorrow.

It seems as though people spotted both of them last night so Bret must have eventually made it in. ;)

"One half of Flight of the Conchords, Jemaine Clement, drew only the odd whisper and occasional pointed finger as he went through Dunedin International Airport yesterday afternoon." Jeesh, being a celeb would make me completely paranoid. Good think I'm not too talented. :P Is this the same hat that appeared in the baguette photo?

Sounds like a nation of shy people. I would totally fit in there! :worry:

Jemaine travels with an "entourage" now. ;) I wonder how many goldfish one has to cram up one's arse to become part of that group.

That woman behind Jemaine must be part of his entourage. She appears to be looking for finger-pointers and odd whisperers. :P (I'm not even going to to mention the goldfish)

And here I was thinking she was some nobody who instantly shot to stardom for having walked behind J for a moment. But now that you mention it she does have a somewhat stern I see you whispering face about her. J has probably always traveled with the same people and now all of a sudden it's called an entourage.

Suzy's shy? :hrm: That wasn't my impression.

I think that's the same hat that he wore in the baguette photo. Seems like the lighting is making the colour look different. Or he could have the hat in different colours.

Ah, I'll bet it's the Dunedin shirt. (Though he is a stunner.) So did someone throw it on stage or something?

:offtopic: I've seen another NZ artist wearing the Dunedin t-shirt. Paul McLaney wears the same t-shirt in his video 'Dont Want to Know'. Paul played with Fly My Pretties on their last album, he is amazing. Anywho, his album Edin was released in 2006, must be a popular t-shirt, it's stayed around this long.

The boys look amazing, it's so good to see all of these pics and vids coming our way. Thanks Venus for keeping us 'in the know'.
