Nearly A Woman

Postby ollie379 » Wed May 21, 2008 9:51 am

This is a song that was used in the Radio Show. There is a version by the Conchords and another by Whambi.

Does anyone know all of the lyrics or have any tabs for it?

I pretty much have the lyrics, but haven't had time to post them. The next few days will be tough for me, but I will get them to you, hopefully Mon.
Oh, fish-like Lady
Lady-like Fish
I don't think so Bro, she's a Lady, Lady, Lady, Lady
No, no, she's a fish that's just a little bit
La-dy-ish! Yeah!

I have a little time, so here goes:
The ad libs in the playouts aren't exact, just close.
First, the guys' version:

Standin' alone in my room
Weavin' all night
Thinkin' about what's happenin'
I'm into women's rights
I'm stuck between two worlds
Am I a young woman or an elderly girl?
Kick it!
Yeah, Yeah
I have long hair, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
I wear a dress, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, yeah
Nearly a woman... nearly a woman....(play out)

Whambi's version:
Tryin' to write a song
Tryin' to write a song
I'm sittin' here thinkin' of words for a song
Mmm I'm sittin' in a kitchen, tryin' to write a song
Now I'm standin' alone in my room
Weavin' all night
Thinkin' about what's happenin'
I'm into women's rights
I'm stuck between two worlds, yeah
Am I a young woman or an elderly girl?
Kick ass! Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah! Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
I have long hair yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
I wear a dress yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Nearly a woman, nearly a woman
I have got breasts......(play out)

As far as "Nothin' Wrong", I play guitar, but I'm not familiar with the "tabs" system.
I can do chords over words, but I can't seem to translate the tabs I've seen in this thread. I also haven't tried to play any of the guys' songs, I think their skill is way beyond mine.
"Nothin' Wrong seems as though it would be pretty easy.
From the sound of the chord on the first chorus of the word "Nothin'", it sounds like the key is G. If I have a chance, I'll get those words to you. There are a few question marks that maybe someone else could fill in. I'll try to get it out the first of the week.

i got a four wheel drive
and a computer hard drive
and ________________
and i got plenty of motivational drive!

other than that, i think ive got it!

It sounds something like "and Ashfelt/Ashbelt drive"? I'm not familiar with whatever he's referencing. That's one of my question mark spots. I'll have someone else listen to it and see if they can figure it out. Sometimes a fresh pair of ears is all it takes. Anybody else have any ideas?

Is it "asphalt drive" but said with a funny accent? That would make sense.
It does sound as though he's saying "asfelt", though

It could well be that. Yeah, your right, that would make sense...

I think I'm gonna stick with asphalt. Thanks!
You wouldn't swear at us, Murray.

My pleasure. I'm glad you're into "Folk the World". It's nice to hear the early arrangements the guys used to do. I love that cd - I play it in my car constantly! Now if only I could get up the courage to pick up my guitar!
