Dublin - May 6 2010 - Tour stop # 4

Postby Sherry » Thu May 06, 2010 7:20 am

Please post about the second Dublin gig in this thread. Only 'post gig' related conversation here please :)

Please ensure you have read the Gig section rules (and if you've not done so already, the general forum rules) before posting.

Save your real lusting/swooning for the Brettylicious Flytour & Jemaliscious Business hours are definately not over threads and keep these actual gig threads more discussion based and less lustful (if that is even remotely possible   ).

To kick start it, here is the tour poster from the May 5 Dublin gig. By Tom Whalen (StrongStuff)

Tried to access the chatroom on my phone, and it didn't quite work out. That's ok, because then I would be completely useless here at work! I'm looking forward to all the updates!

uhhh.. what?
why were they singing Waltzing Matilda? :puzzled:
Did they think it was a kiwi song, or were they taunting the guys with Australianisms??
It's all about the music.

Haha, looking forward to reading the story behind Waltzing Matilda being sung! Sounds to me as though the audience may have been singing it to wind them up. It's well known as an Australian song over here so I doubt people thought it was a kiwi song but who knows.

Or maybe the guys started singing it after some snappy banter with the audience.
Oh, fish-like Lady
Lady-like Fish
I don't think so Bro, she's a Lady, Lady, Lady, Lady
No, no, she's a fish that's just a little bit
La-dy-ish! Yeah!

Bakergirl just posted on her fb that she met Jemaine as well! She didn't specify whether or not it was before or after the show but I can't wait to hear the whole story :yay:

Oh my god tonight.....tonight was just.....I'm lost for words :D   :supz:

I really don't know where to begin.

The story behind Waltzing Matilda is that Jemaine said he had been learning about the famous English poet Oscar Wilde. This didn't go down well with the audience as you can imagine. Then someone shouted "Ozzy ozzy ozzy" and loads of people replied with "Oy oy oy" which in case you don't know is what you always reply when you hear that calling. The guys didn't seem to know this from the looks on their faces.
Then someone shouted out "Waltzing Matilda", to which the guys obliged the audience by playing, resulting in a really sweet sing along!
There was also a bit of a sing along with Epileptic Dogs which was so good :D

Oh yea, I also MET JEMAINE!!!

We got down there about half six. At quarter to eight I saw Nigel walking up and saw Jemaine behind him. I can't belive how calm I felt as I said to girls "Yeah Jemaines coming up". My calmness didn't last long though and the shakes started!
Bakergirl and fs got fantastic pictures. I was wearing my Crazy Horses Gang T-Shirt. He asked me where did I get it and I think I said "Um..the N..New Zealand website th...that you can..get..t from canyoudothesign?!"
So I have a picture of me and Jemaine doing the call to arms sign for the Crazy Horses Gang. And he made the PFFFTT! sound! Gah....I cannae believe man!

Sorry I haven't more of a review again but I'm still trying to process what 2 months of waithing has accumulated in to.

My pictures are so much better this time and I have loads of videos!
