That was awesome! I want to play my uke like that, too!! but stage fright usually gets the best of me Maybe if I let my hair get all in my face like the lady in that video, then I wouldn't get so nervous
By the way, I really liked the beginning that you added on to "You've got a friend in me"...did you find a version you liked somewhere? or did you just play it until it sounded right?
I was trying to find the little intro that Randy leads in with, and I stumbled onto that one. It was pretty easy once I got the hang of it. It's C, C7, F, F#dim, C, G7...then C (but played as a B moved down a fret), then B, Bb, B, "C", B, Bb, B then right into the first C of the song. Does that make sense? Thanks for forcing me to learn that song. I laugh remembering how frustrated I was at first.
I bang on my uke all the time, chunking or as a drum even...and strum way too hard. I tried doing my fingers like Gabriela today. It doesn't sound quite right yet. I might try it on the guitar. But that thing is just so freaking BIG.
Ack! I've been so busy that I missed the WTFIUO 2nd Anniversary!
I am determined to play my uke a lot today! I've just printed off "Longing to Belong" by Eddie Vedder and Waltzing Matilda (to keep my tab skills sharp!) Not sure I'll have time for a video but I wanted to give our orchestra a shout out!
Why are you not making video's, Laura? I sometimes feel like I have nothing new to contribute, but I've been told online (very reputable) that it helps improve skills and sustain interest to exhibit one's improvements. (no matter how slight) So I will fight my nature and exhibit my latest....
(FYI please turn down your volume as I seem to play this song rather aggressively)
My apologies to Eddie...damn I love that song. I can't even pretend to get his magnificent strums down tho. What are your "go to songs"? I have several that I always play to warm up (and cuz I love them) and then my latest favorites which at the moment are: Dream A Little Dream of Me, Breathe, Falling Slowly and Short People.
I spend lots of my spare time on Ukulele Hunt these days. I think I have a tiny crush on Woodshed. He both cracks me up and inspires me.
Two years! Wow. I will say that I don't think I've touched my piano in two years though. Blame the three ukulele's in my office within arms reach at all times.
