Oh my goodness, it's great news! And the fact that both parents made it through as well is so wonderful!

God help them. God help us all. I really had no idea how many nuclear power plants there were in the US. Please, no more quakes or aftershocks!

Super 8)

I wouldn't be surprised if it's a Kiwi we're all familiar with, but whoever it was is awesome.

More goodies for supporting a good cause. :thumb:

25% of the sales from the NZ tee and 100% of the sales from the Japan tee will go toward rebuilding efforts. (Poor NZ only gets 25%, lol.)

I guess they reason that the NZ disaster is on a much smaller scale - which is actually true. Plus our dollar is weak compared to the yen so 25% will probably give the same bang for their buck anyway! The damage here may be smaller scale, but it's no less disastrous or heartbreaking for those involved and I love that they are helping both, no matter what the percentages are. I like the Japan T better though!

I do too. It's hard to tell on the NZ tee whether the hands are putting the cathedral together or taking it apart.

This is impressive.
I find that almost unbelievable! Well done! I've no idea how they managed that repair so fast - big population? Very strong economy? Just plain old super-industriousness? Hell, it will be months and months before Christchurch roads get anywhere near that much attention!

Cross posting this. (cuz Great H may not see it in the Jemaine section.) :P

NewZealand Herald wrote:Also doing her bit for charity is Rachel Hunter, who is tipped to make a surprise appearance at the Telethon for Christchurch event on May 22 alongside some of our biggest global exports.

Anna Paquin, Kylie Bax, Helen Clark, Jonah Lomu, Jemaine Clement and Martin Henderson are rumoured to be beaming in on love crosses from around the globe, which will undoubtedly add much star-studded glamour to the televised event.

Anyone know anything about this? Televised! :yay: Great H! Can you grab it? :D

Edit to add: I found a facebook page for the event. https://www.facebook.com/ChristchurchTelethon

A quote from the page, "The broadcast would also be live streamed globally..." :D

Heh, you're right Nonch, I may well have missed it in the Jemaine section!
Boy they better get their promotional skates on - I'd not heard a sausage about it at all.

When they get around to publishing the channel & time etc, I can look into grabbing it for you (or rather, getting my brother to grab it for you!). Telethons we've had in the past have been 24hrs which wouldn't be do-able, but I suspect this'll be a much shorter deal cos the other ones were promoted for months and months beforehand so people could fundraise. Otherwise cross-fingers for that live streaming!

You're right about the promo, I hope they get on it. I think this one is 12 hours. They are asking for some volunteers here. What does 'beaming in on love crosses' mean?

Magnitude 7.1 quake strikes off Vanuatu
A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck 133 kilometres south-west off the Pacific island of Vanuatu, the US Geological Survey (USGS) says.
The quake was 26 kilometres deep and no tsunami warning has been issued, the Pacific Tsunami Centre said.

That's where The Black Seeds 'One by One' video was filmed. It's a relief that it doesn't sound like the quake did any damage or caused injury. Thanks for the info, Amanda.
