I just realized this evening that there's a nest of catbirds in the lilac bush right outside my bedroom window. It took a few tries to get a shot that showed the little guys relatively clearly. Mom was nearby, so I couldn't get close to the screen and shoot. But finally Mom ran to the store, and snapped a shot with the camera next to the screen:

I wish it were clearer, but I can't open my window and get a clean shot without the flipping screen. I thought there were three babies, but this looks like there could just be two of them.
I think I used all the tricks to make it better. Any suggestions?

Took a train ride to the top of Pike's Peak. It was a gorgeous day out.

It was kind of impossible to take a bad picture up there.

Yes, it was. The elevation was over 14,000 ft at the top. I was drinking lots of water.

I like this one because I timed it just as the boat was hitting the water.

You live outside of Denver now? Do you find a problem with the elevation in general? My cousin has lived there for a couple of years and there are still places that bother her, I guess you don't get used to it. It's part of the reason I don't want to visit. I like being able to breathe.

Yeah, I live about 15 miles outside of Denver. Honestly, the elevation only bothered me pretty bad the first few weeks I was here. It was not so much not being able to breathe, just that I was thirsty all the time. It's super dry here which is a huge difference from being in Texas and all I wanted to do sometimes was drink some water. I'm used to the elevation now, but that's after being here almost two months.

Interesting. My cousin had been house shopping and sometimes the ground level was fine but she'd lose her breath going to the 2nd floor. She also complains about the dry air. Her skin & sinuses suffer a bit. She really enjoyed being back in sticky NJ a few weeks ago.

Faith that first one with the train is wonderful! It looks just like something out of a storybook. You have to enter it into a Hipstamatic contest - NOW!!!

I agree- simply gorgeous photos, Faith!

Hm, I also thought being at elevation would mean being a bit short of breath. Being thirsty sounds better. :)

The only time I will get more short of breath than normal is when I do something active like running. Just doing normal everyday things, I'm totally fine.

I got altitude sickness once in Colorado. It made me very dizzy, nauseous, and sleepy. After taking a long nap I felt fine. It happened to me after going up into Rocky Mountain National Park, so I think it was the very rapid change in elevation.

Just spent a week in Denver and the elevation really affected me. I was totally thirsty and got drunk a lot quicker than normal.

Here in Phx we hang below sea level, so that is quite a change. I went to Colorado Springs last spring and got a headache trying to head up Pikes Peak.

Gorgeous Pics Faith!!
