2009 Tour Dates

Postby vmh » Tue Jul 21, 2009 1:38 am

Arj just posted a bulletin on Myspace. I thought I would share it here.

I know many of you are in Oz, so you'll be pleased to see that I'm mounting a pretty extensive tour of your country, starting in Sept. As well, I have several dates in the States this summer and will be adding a few more here and there..

See dates here: http://www.arjbarker.com

FAQ's:

Why aren't you coming to my city? I'm going as many places as I can. There is only so much time, and it also depends on the the availability of venues. Hopefully I'll be performing near you, but if not, I promise I'll try to get round there in the future!

Which show are you touring? I will be performing my Original Style Bits n' Pieces show, which I performed at Adelaide Fringe and Melbourne earlier this year - with the exception of the Melbourne Fringe Festival, where I'll be doing a show called 'Keeper or Crapper' which is basically a testing ground for new and/or unpolished material!

Will you you be doing a meet n' greet after the show? I plan to! Come by and say hi :)

But what is the smallest baleen whale? Well, that would have to be the Minke whale. They are only about 8.2 - 10.2 meters long.

Hope that clears things up!

Stay well, and look forward to seeing you,

Arj

I know they taped his new live CD in January at the Pantages in Mpls.

Who knows? Could be! Minneapolis has a really strong comedy scene. Stand Up! Records is out of here as are loads of good comics (LOVE Maria Bamford and the Scrimshaw Brothers).

The place he's playing is some huge outdoor event. I've already seen him twice in a small comedy club and twice on tour so I think I'll sit this next one out.

Arj was feckin' hilarious last night at Acme Comedy Gallery. It was great seeing his act as one long piece rather than little YouTube bits. He was also funny with the crowd.

And Acme is a wonderful venue. It's a little worn around the edges, but the room is great. If you want front row seats, they have a dinner and a show deal that's pretty reasonable, and the seats are choice. It ain't gourmet food, but it's all right, and their drink prices are actually fair for a downtown bar. It's my first time there, but I know I'll be catching Doug Benson (Arj's Marijuana-logues co-writer) there in October.

So Happy you got to see the show! :supz: Did you go to late show or early one?

I don't know if they are at all different, just curious. You are so right it is good to see him for a full set and not just in bits like when he opened for FOTC, or youtube.

Fun fun fun.

The early one. I picked Friday, because it was the 2nd to last night, so I figured he would be on a roll and the crowd would be lively but not too wasted.

When he comes back, I'm going to see about either going two nights, or sitting through the second one. It was so worth it.

Yeah, it is so worth it ! funny and all around good guy!

He is gonna be back there in January or so to promote that dvd he recorded in Pantages. (Found out from radio podcast on Half-Assed Morning show in MN.)

We are gonna see him when he gets back to States then, cannot swing Seattle or Portland next month so... guess then Arj will be off to Australia for a couple of months :(

I'm glad you had a good time mohumbhai mania! I'm still waiting for Arj to return to LA but that may not happen until next year. How long was he on for? I've seen him open twice for FOTC but I'm wondering if his live act is different from his opening act.

He did about 45 minutes. I haven't seen him open, but it was a kind of hilariously rambling off the wall stream of consciousness thing. He kind of takes jokes and bends them on themselves and folds them again, if that makes sense.

It looks like more dates have been added in Louisville, Nashville, Sacramento, San Francisco, and Vancouver.
