Well this is REALLY REALLY late, but this is my little review of the show and meet and greet. It's kind of long, and a lot of it has already been said. Sorry if there's a lot of repeated information. I have been really busy lately. I'm a college student and it's the last 2 weeks of the semester.

The show was wonderful. There were a few little factors that made things unpleasant, but I can safely say that my friend (also named Megan) and I both had a blast. The doors opened at 7. We got there at about 6:30 and stood in line in the cold. When they finally let us in, we went to our seats and discovered that while we were on the main floor, we had an obstructed view. There was this big column directly in front of where I was sitting and we were WAY off to the side of the stage. For the record, we were in Section 1, Row P, seats 2 and 3. There was also a really tall guy sitting in front of me. I'm tall too, but I had to sit up VERY straight to see Jemaine and Nigel. I couldn't see Bret at all. It didn't bother me much though. I still found the show extremely enjoyable.

The crowd was a mix of bad and good, I have to say. People kept getting up DURING THE SHOW to get drinks. I was really angry at that. Most of the people getting up were people who had really good seats too. I know if I had had those seats I would have had my butt in that chair watching the guys the whole time. It just seemed extremely rude to me. I guess that's why there were so many drunk people. One guy right near front and center got up and started dancing in the aisle and he danced his way right out the door when two security guards came and escorted him out! People kept yelling Freebird and asking stupid questions like "Where is Murray?!" I think at one point Jemaine said "He's in New Zealand. Go there." Someone yelled "Play another song!" in the middle of one they were already singing and Jemaine stopped and said "Not yet." I don't think they minded those members of the crowd too much though, because of the fact that the crowd was VERY high energy and responsive. Although there were a lot of rude idiots, I would say the audience was pretty good overall.

There was a LOT of really funny banter. They were asking if we could understand their accents and when everyone went "WOOOO!" They were like "Well, I assume that means they understand." Jemaine asked if they could call us "Nash." haha. They also tried to do some southern accents which was pretty funny. They did a pretty good job! They apologized for making fun of the accents and said that we could make fun of theirs too. Some guy did a perfect impression of Murray and said "Play the next one Jemaine!" Megan and I really wanted to yell out "This is the most ridnick place I've ever been!" because we had been saying it all day while walking around the city and imagining they were saying it. But we were too shy, so we didn't.

My favorite part was during Carol Brown when they wanted the ladies in the audience to do the "ah ah ah ah ah ah ahs". They had us practice before the song and were impressed and pleasantly surprised at how good we sounded. Jemaine said something about how interesting it was that a town known for music had so many people who could sing. Then he said "Just between Nashville and us...Tampa..." and then he made a sour face and did a cutting motion with his hand across his neck! hahaha.

After the show, we went out and waited by the back door/tour buses hoping that the guys would come out and do a meet and greet. It was a bit miserable, but it was worth waiting through the cold and drizzle. My poster kept getting wet. We waited for over 2 hours. While we were waiting, I was surprised to see Kitty, a girl I knew from Memphis. I was a bit annoyed when she told us that she had tickets for seats about as good as ours, but that she got to sit front and center because no one was sitting in those seats and she had enough balls to move up there! She just moved up and no one noticed and no one ever showed up! I wish Megan and I had moved up now. Also a lot of drunk people kept coming out of the bars that lined the alley and asking what was going on. When someone asked them what band we were waiting on, the guy standing next to me told them it was Coldplay! hahaha. Anyway, we talked to a lot of cool people. I wish I had gotten more contact information and names from people, because everyone was really nice. After hours of waiting, we heard that they were down by the tour bus. We had been by the door the whole time! So we RAN down there, unfortunately making some people mad in the progress. Sorry to whoever that was. :\ We were just really excited and let it get the best of us.

When we got down there, there were Bret and Jemaine in all their glory. I was stunned! I didn't know what to do! We talked to Jemaine a lot more than we did Bret, unfortunately. That gave us the impression that Jemaine was much chattier and nice than Bret, which I've heard from others is totally wrong. But, we barely got to talk to Bret at all. I was sad about that. Thinking back, if I could go back to the situation, I would do a lot of things differently. I would have asked them both for a little hug and I definitely would have talked to Bret more.

Anyway, there was a break in the crowd and suddenly I was face to face with Jemaine! I just looked at him. I imagine that I said "Hello, Jemaine!" but for all I know, I just stared at him like an idiot! My favorite part of the WHOLE thing was that he looked right at me and asked "Oh, did you buy a poster?" I said "Yes." And I didn't even have to ASK if he would sign it. He asked ME! "Would you like me to sign it for you?" "SURE!" I said. At first I only had a ballpoint pen. Then Jemaine pulled a sharpie out of his pocket and said "Wait, let me use this." He signed it and I said "Thank you so much!" and then he asked if he had given me my pen back. I said I didn't know, but that I thought he had. He said "I hope I did. I'm a notorious pen thief!" I told him that even if he didn't, there were plenty of other pens in the world and that I could find another. haha. His accent didn't sound as strong as I thought it would but he was definitely as TALL and ATTRACTIVE as I thought he would be! He looked great! I was so happy he was so nice! At one point my friend Megan jumped in and told him that she had named her betta fish after him. He said something like "Well, that is the highest complement I've ever received." Then I told him that I had named mine after Bret, and that he had died the next day but that Jemaine the fish was still alive. He thought that was pretty funny. Later on Megan and I, and Kitty were talking to Jemaine about starting a dancing only band. He seemed to think that was pretty funny too. He was SO SWEET to talk to us like that. had to practically pull Megan away from Jemaine! I went over to get pictures with Bret and to get him to sign my poster, but honestly, I don't remember talking to him at all. I hate that because I doubt I'll ever get a chance again and I'm sure he would have talked to me if I had talked to him. :\

After the crowd had thinned out, Megan and I were still there and we finally realized that we couldn't stay forever. So we said goodbye to Jemaine first and told him that they had put a great show that night. Then we passed Bret, and I was going to say the same thing to him, but he was talking to someone so I patted his arm and said "You guys were great tonight" and kept walking and he actually turned his head around and said thank you as I walked past him. Such a nice guy. :)

I'm so grateful that they're so kind to their fans. They stayed outside in the cold with us and made sure they talked to, took pictures with, and signed autographs for every single person. They could have just gotten on their tour bus and left and ignored all of us, but they were really sweet and it's nice to know that they have so much care and appreciation for us.

My only complaint is that it felt like it was kind of impersonal and that I felt almost guilty for bothering them. First off, I had to make peace with the fact that they will never remember me (especially not Bret). They meet so many people every day, so it wasn't super meaningful in that kind of setting because they were being constantly bombarded with people. I'm not complaining, I just think it's kind of bittersweet that I met them and yet they'll never even remember. I don't even think I told them my name.
Also, I felt guilty for bothering them. I'm very shy. I think that's why I didn't talk to them more. I really didn't want to make them feel overwhelmed. I was about to have a panic attack myself because it was so crowded and packed together and I realized that they must have to deal with that all the time. So I felt sort of bad and tried to keep my distance a bit whereas my friend was just taking what she could get! haha. Most people were treating them just like they were objects to get autographs from and stuff. I mean, they're people. And obviously very good people, at that. I didn't want to treat them like they were objects.

Sorry I wrote you guys a book. I had such an amazing time!

By the way, thanks SO much to everyone who has posted pictures and links to stuff from the show! Especially the livejournal entry, because that is one of the girls who took pictures of us with Bret after my friend's camera batteries died. So now I have a new Livejournal friend. :)

Megan~ Thanks so much for your post. Better late than never, girlfriend! :yawinkle:
I love reading what other people have to say about the Nashville show.....I've forgotten a lot, but thanks to you and the LJ post (and others), I am able to recall. I was in section 5, Row T, which turned out to be really good seats--much farther back than I would've liked, but still straight on center stage.
Oh, I bet you could've kicked yourself when you heard that girl moved to an empty seat! I know I would've!
Again, thank you so much for going ahead and posting your 'review'. :)
I agree with you that Jemaine was very chatty that evening, but so was Bret, I thought. Though when I stop and think about it, I talked to Jemaine more as well. Whowouldathunkit!?!

Thanks for your account Megan! Glad to read that you had a great time overall. I suppose there will always be some things that you wish you did differently since it went by quickly and with hindsight but you should be super proud of seeing them live, being able to meet the guys and even engage in conversation with them, Jemaine in particular. Interesting to read that Jemaine was chattier than Bret. And you never know, there may also be another occasion for you to meet the guys again!
And no worries about the links :)

To be fair, I believe it was during a lull in "Robots" and the heckler yelled, "BINARY SOLO!"

But anyways, these reviews are great. They help me relive the show.

That's actually a pretty good seat! That's about where I sat the last time I went to the Ryman to see the Smashing Pumpkins. And YES! I was VERY upset that we didn't move. There was a whole empty row a couple of rows in front of where we were sitting that was NOT behind a column, but by the time I noticed, the show had started and I figured someone would have griped at us.

Bret seemed like he was chatty with everyone else actually. I think we just spent too much time hanging around Jemaine because he was so gorgeous. :worry:

Ahh, you're probably right. From where I was sitting it sounded like that's what they said. I guess that's a little less jerk-like than "Play another song!" Somehow...

Were you as stunned as I was by how much better looking he is in person? I was totally floored. I mean, I've always thought he was cute, but you're right, he truly is GORGEOUS! And then, he's lovely to be around. That just makes him all the more 'to die for'!

And li'l Bret's eyes---you could just fall into them!

YES! Pictures and television don't do him justice at all. Pair that with the fact that he was so nice...man...I was just sold.

Bret was adorable too. And I was surprised at how much taller Bret was than I thought he would be. It's almost like they make him look smaller on TV.

OMG we're so like minded! I was pleasantly surprised by his height and his weight. He's not a "weedy, shy guy" at all. I fully expected to be taller than him, but nope!

I think you were right about somebody calling out for a song, but it wasn't during a song. And Jemaine said, "Not yet" and looked at his set list. If I'm remembering correctly.

Austin is right as well. Somebody did shout for the binary solo.

Have you noticed the songs that they're playing at the other shows? They're doing ones they didn't do here, but I can't seem to figure out what they aren't doing at those shows that they DID do here. Other than Angels. Any thoughts?

I'm guessing it would get boring just doing the same show the same way over and over....and maybe depending on their mood they deviate a bit and play something not on the set list. Maybe they have secret eye-or-hand gestures. :D :P

A few thoughts in response to the secret hand/eye gestures

1.) That'd be so sixy, IMHO
2.) I notice from ONS especially that when Jemaine deviates a bit from the "scripted" stuff in Business Time that he'll give a little glance to Bret to let him know he's ready to go back to the chorus...

They're in-tune with each other. 8) We'll have to keep a sharp eye out for secret gestures and the like.....
